How long should bruising last after having a blood test taken and why have I developed bruising all around my elbow on the same arm and behind the knee of the same side of the body?
See primary M.D.: Bruising at puncture sight from needle is very common and clears out in about a week. However having bleeding around elbow and knee is bothersome, You should go and see your primary doctor. After checking you out, he may need to do some more blood tests to rule out any bleeding disorder.See 1 more doctor answer
Bruise: The blood vessel is punctured when blood is withdrawn during a blood test. If the vessel is not compressed long enough, blood will leak out of the vessel giving a bruise. Holding direct pressure with a cotton ball for 10 or 15 minutes is usually enough. However if a person is on platlet inhibitors such as asprin longer might be necessary.
See below: A small number of normal people get a bruise after blood draw and vast majority of these resolve without any serious consequences. Is the bruise stable? If it is growing, contact your doctor. If it is not growing, has no redness beyond the bruise and is not painful, you may leave it alone and it will resolve. It may go through a change of colors like brown, greenish-blue and yellow.
Not normal but it: Happens. 1-2% of the persons getting blood may get a bruise. The incidence is related to the difficulty of blood draw, very young and very old, patients on blood thinners.
See below: It's not normal, but it is fairly common.
Been bruising for awhile now hermatologist did all blood test and they are all normal can stress be a cause?
? Bruising?: If there has been no trauma you have to find out why you are bruising. There are screening tests for numbers of cells but then there are questions about the functionality of the cells. It is NOT normal to be bruising frequently. When a doctor says everything is normal in that situation he is saying everything that I looked for is OK and now you how to look further. Go to Univ. Med. Center near u.
I have been finding random bruises all over my body, some have been big. I had blood test and everything was fine. But I feel like something is wrong?
Depends on test: Some people bruise easier than others, but you should be evaluated to make sure your blood clots normally. If they checked your liver function along with a PTT and a PT/INR and those all came back normal, THEN I'd be less concerned, but you should work with your doctor to find out what is happening until your doctor says he/she believes everything is fine and you need no further testing.
Bruises in legs CBC blood test normal, s.g.p.t normal, s.g.o.t normal what is the cause of these bruises?
Bruises: Hi, it seems your CBC and liver function test are normal but how's your PT/PTT (coagulation tests), why are you taking Leflunomide and Sulfasalazine, inflammatory bowel dx? Leflunomide can cause low platelet which could lead to easy bruising, R u taking any Aspirin, Ibuprofen? Also you are on Steroid which can make the skin thin and causes rupture of small vessels under skin with slight trauma.See 1 more doctor answer
I had a blood test a week ago that left a small bruise, which is now large/dark purple and spreading up arm. Could there be something wrong?
Yes, if the arm is hot: To touch, and you have swelling, and see streaks of bruising going up the arm. Then you have to go immediately in the ER. If it is not hot to the touch, and no swelling or pain, then you need to call your doctor as soon as possible to be seen by her/him, and notify the lab that you are experiencing this too. That has to be documented by the lab manager. Blood thinners or low platelets can do this2See 1 more doctor answer
Post to a blood test, the skin of the area got darken. Next day there was a blood mark under the skin (bruise). It got widen next day. Today is day4?
Likely OK,,,: It usually takes about 1-2 weeks for an injury, even a needle stick, to heal fully. If you are still worried, see your doctor for an exam and the results of your blood test. Good luck.
I always get arm pain after IV or blood test sometimes bruise regardless of where the needle was. Should I be concerned?
1yr old has bruise on leg bloods came back platlelet 90 neutrophils 0.7 why are the requesting second blood test?
Confirmation: The numbers you give are not very helpful but platelets of 90 (thousand) are on the low side. What. 7 neuts refers to is confusing. You repeat a test to see if the initial test was wrong, the levels change or to define the problem more clearly. Low platelets could be a technical glitch, a problem with production or excessive destruction. Further testing narrows your search.See 1 more doctor answer
Had blood test wk ago. Large bruise came up on forearm + elbow, now have tender limp inside of elbow where I guess blood was taken. Do I need the dr?
Hematoma: Some of the blood apparently escaped from the vein into the surrounding tissue when blood was withdrawn for testing. This happens sometimes but should be small and should slowly resolve (it first looks like a bluish bruise then turns brownish and finally over few days it becomes firm and eventually resolves. Call dr if it becomes infected (turns red, hot and painful)
Not often but sometimes I wake up with random bruising and have no trauma or injury to the part of my body that has been bruised. Blood test??
Is it normal to have a 4"x2.5" bruise after a blood test, for it to take 2.5 weeks to fade and leave a slight scar? Just due to not putting pressure?
Yes: A bruise is common after a blood draw and can be from inadequate pressure. It can take over a week to go away and should not scar.
Blood test on my arm she used a vein I never see them use, it hurt more this time and have purple bruise around area, not hurt, 3 days I need to worry?
No: This sounds like a normal although somewhat painful phlebotomy. If the pain and bruising persist, see your doctor.
Bruising on legs and thighs and all blood test normal saw hermatologist I don't know what to do now any help? : (
Coagulation studies: Make sure that you have had the appropriate coagulation studies performed. Do you have family history of easy bruising? If your coagulation studies are normal, than aspirin or even ibuprofen usage can cause ecchymosis (bruising). If you aren't taking any medications that cause prolonged bleeding time and all coagulation a studies are normal, then be assured that you are fine and healthy.See 1 more doctor answer
