Unprotected sex?: If you have not been in a long-term mutually monogamous relationship, both of whom are disease-free, get checked for an sexually transmitted disease. Also, an exam can detect if you have irritation of the cervix, which can sometimes bleed. Any new meds or supplements? If so, & not prescribed, stop. Can be other causes, & if no chance of std & problem happens again, get checked. If fever, pain-ER! ...Read more

After an IUD insertion, walking gives me cramps and spotting, will that ever go away?

After an IUD insertion, walking gives me cramps and spotting, will that ever go away?

Talk to doctor: It would be best to give the clinic where you had the iud inserted a call. The cramping after iud insertions usually calms down very quickly. If it's been more than 2-3 days and you're having cramping when walking, you need to be seen. ...Read more

Just in case if you are concerned have your partner continue to wear protection for both STD's and Birth Control. But I would always recommend protection against STD's regardless of the IUD, because IUDs don't protect against STDs ...Read more

Mirena (levonorgestrel) is tricky!: Mirena (levonorgestrel) is used for contraception, and to control heavy menstrual bleeding (hmb). It's known to have 6 mos of irreg spotting, then may diminish menses to as little as nothing. When the Mirena (levonorgestrel) is done @ 5 yrs, menses revert to before. As is true of all IUD's, check for the strings to be certain they're still there. IUD's prevent implantation, not conception, maybe check ept. Good Luck ...Read more

Skyla IUD: The Skyla IUD contains a progestin which thickens your cervical mucus and sends a constant signal to your uterine lining not to grow and to get mature. It is common to have irregular bleeding at first as the receptors in the uterus are being primed and then periods usually become very light and you skip periods. Your negative pregnancy tests are not invalid. Hope this helps. ...Read more

Hi i have been spotting for the past month now is that normal? let me add i have the IUD but ive had it since april.

Spotting with IUD: I would recommend communicating with your OB/GYN. Spotting is common while your body is adjusting to an IUD up to around 6 months. Since you have had yours for closer to 9 months, a discussion with your OB/GYN and an exam would be a great idea. Good luck. ...Read more
