How Long Is My Arm Going To Hurt After Getting A Tetanus Shot
Few Minutes to2-3DAY: Most of the time there is only slight pain or discomfort lasting few minute. But some patients get a local reaction with swelling and pain and may last 2to3 days Most adult patients in my experience do not complain of pain at all.Children will cry when the shot is given. Some children may get a reaction and will be fussy for couple of days and may have slight swelling as we give more than one shotSee 1 more doctor answer
I had to get a tetanus shot and monday will make it two weeks ago. My arm still hurts and is sore when moving it. Is this common?
It varies: Everything you ever wanted to know about all immunizations, including the tetanus vaccine can be found at- http://www. Cdc. Gov/vaccines/ great material there. Will answer all possible questions. In my experience, if someone is pretty active, they will notice the site being "sore" for a few hours to a day or so.
Could be several day: Generally this is mild and does not last very long. If it persists past three days and is not improving, see your doctor.
Ice packs: If site of injection is painful apply ice packs for 20 minutes 4 times daily. It will help to relieve pain.See 1 more doctor answer
Usually: Usually the majority of discomfort from a tetanus vaccination resolves within 3 to 4 days.
I had a tetanus shot 2 days ago. It is a hard lump where I got the shot and my arm really hurts there. Is this normal?
No: But it will settle down if you leave it alone.See 1 more doctor answer
An expected reaction: A sore red area at the site of a vaccination is what happens when your healthy immune system reacts to the shot. It should only last 2-3 days.
Long story short, my brothers cat attacked me and I have more than a few scratches on my lower arm. Do I need to see a doctor for a tetanus shot?
No; however...: The tetanus spores are surprisingly common in our environment but tetanus is rare; tetanus can not grow in an environment with oxygen so the only wounds that have a risk of tetanus are deep puncture wounds. Scratches will never cause tetanus, But you might get other bacterial infections like Cat Scratch Fever (Bartonella). Clean the wound well & watch for infection. See https://tinyurl. Com/khla9r6

Hello! I recently had surgery late Friday night ever since then my back and chest has hurt so bad I have a dry cough, also my arms are so sore feels like I've had a tetanus shot in each arms they are achy not sure what's going on?
Received a tetanus shot yesterday due to a cat bite and my entire arm hurts. I can barely move my shoulder with out moderate pain. Is it normal?
Last night had a tetanus shot on the arm. Now the arm has swollen n hurts a lot. It was a nurse who gave the injection not a doctor. Is this normal??
Yes: It is not unusual to have swelling and pain for 1-2 days after a tetanus shot. If you continue to have pain and swelling or if the area is red, have it checked. A nurse gives a better shot than a doctor :-). All the best and I hope it fells better.
While exercising my arm got a bit scratched by my own footnail. Washed it with dettol soap. Tetanus? Need I get tetanus shot? It's red n a bit swollen.
It is likely: Infected the way you describe an an antibioitc would be appropriate. Your tetanus should always be upto date.
Got stuck in the fore arm with a rusty nail, last tetanus shot 5-6 yrs ago, arm hurts /swollan/redish around cut. Can I wait till morning to see how i?
See below.: Tetanus shot is probably good although would certainly not hurt to get another. Major concern is acute infection with much more common organisms such as staph and strep. Anytime there is rapidly expanding or advancing redness, pain, swelling and / or fever you need to see a doc ASAP to be treated or closely monitored. If this is not the case then waiting a few hours to start treatment is OK.See 3 more doctor answers
