My dog has kennel cough is it contagious for me or my 2 children? My son is 11 & my daughter is 8........

No: No, ordinarily the bacteria that classically cause kennel cough do not affect humans. However, there have been case reports of that bacteria affecting humans who are immuno-compromised. As long as everyone in the household his relatively healthy, I'm afraid only your dog is going to be affected. However, your dog can pass it to other dogs! I hope your pup starts feeling better soon!

Cough benefits the host by reducing load and benefits the pathogen which may then spread via aerosol. ...Read more

How long is croup contagious? My son drank out nieces cup who had it last wk. Her fever is gone and she's back at school. Still has a cough. Worry?

Unlikely...: Though one may contract a virus by touching a contaminated surface and then touching the eyes, nose or mouth, the timing of your niece's illness makes it unlikely. Croup is usually caused by a virus infection, most often a parainfluenza virus. After the third day of symptoms, a patient will begin to clinically improve. The cough may in itself represent a post-viral cough that may persist for weeks.

Flu for 5 days despite of flu shot. Still have fever, aches, chills, no appetite, mild cough, headache, exhaustion. Still contagious? How long?

See your doctor.: One of the biggest problems from the flu is the chance of secondary bacterial infections, including sinusitis and pneumonia. Fever for 3-4 days can be normal, but with 5 days of it, it is time to be seen. You are contagious for 5-7 days after the onset of symptoms. If you have shortness of breath, dizziness, blurry vision, go to the ER. The vaccine only protects 60% of folks.

If you have recurrent laryngeal nerve injury, how important is it to avoid exposure to cold/cough? When are colds typically no longer contageous?

Doubt related: In general is not good to have a cold but I don't thing your recurrent laryngeal nerve has anything to do with it. If you have a cold you coul be contagious while still coughing usually until symptoms disappear.
