Perspective: I don't know if there is a true scientific answer for this. Most doctors recommend 7 to 14 days before unprotected intercourse. I retest all of my patients to make sure the infection has gone. Why the urgency ? Keep it in perspective though. Being treated for a sexually transmitted diseases is a big deal. ...Read more

Stop sex, see MD: The shot (probably ceftriaxone) was for gonorrhea, not BV. Bartholin gland infection can be caused by gonorrhea, chlamydia, BV bacteria, and others. You shouldn't be having sex with these problems until all symptoms cleared up. Return to your doctor for re-evaluation and probably additional antibiotics(s).
