I am under going treatment for scabies and from the day of treatment started I no longer feel itchy but I noticed more bumps on my skin and bigger ?
Scabies worsening: First of all, there’s really not a good way to evaluate you without seeing you personally. You should see regular physician and see if, with a scraping of your spots, you actually do have scabies. He will look at your skin under a microscope and tell you. Proper treatment can be started, and there are many proper treatments. See your doctor. ...Read more
When you use medicine for norwegion scabies how long does it take for bumps and itching to go away? I have done 3 doses of the cream and still red bumps and itchy real bad please help!
Weeks to months: After you treat scabies, the itching and the rash may take a couple of weeks to months before they go away. But as long as you aren't getting new rashes, you should stop treating it with the cream. Topical cortisone creams and anit-itch creams can help with the itch as can oral antihistamines. I recommend nonsedating antihistamines during the day: loratidine, fexofenadine; Benadryl (diphenhydramine) at night. ...Read more
Several weeks: It is a good idea to repeat treatment 2 weeks after your first treatment to be thorough. A topical steroid can be prescribed once you have treated scabies once to help the bumps go away more quickly. The bumps are a sensitivity reaction to the scabies mite and its feces and eggs. See your dermatologist if you are not getting better. ...Read more
Hard to say: The bumps appear as a skin reaction to the debris left in the tunnels the scabies leave under your skin. That reaction does not stop at the point of treatment, since it may take a couple of days to show up.It is a little early to worry about treatment failure. Give it another week, and your sites ought to be healing. Re-infection is a possibility if bed linen and clothes have not been cleared. ...Read more
I have treated my family including myself for scabies.I am still itching and I have a seen a new bump.is this normal?
I treated my entire family includimg myself for scabies.iam still itching really bad and have seen a new bump or two.
It happens: The intense itching in scabies is an allergic reaction, not to the bug, but to the feces they deposit in their burrows under the skin. Treatment will kill the mites, but your body will continue to react to any residual bug debris until the body has processed/disposed of it & the reaction settles. It can takes a week or two, but your own drive to scratch can trigger a recurrent itch/scratch cycle. ...Read more

Permethrin 1% vs 5%.: If you are using any over the counter permethrin, the 1% version, you may not be using a product strong enough to deal with this problem. Scabies bumps.: If you are sure that it was scabies, they resolve quickly once the bug has been treated. Moisturize your skin 2-3 times a day with any good moisturizer and you should see improvement in a week. If not improving it may not have been scabies and a topical steroid may be in order depending on the cause. Moisturizers will not hurt no matter the cause. Have a great time in bali! ...Read more
I have bumps that come and go, more so prominent on my forearms and not in the listed usual places for scabies. Its hardly ever itchy ?
Bumps on forearms: There are multiple things this could be, and it's impossible to say without actually seeing them. BUT, it sounds a lot like a condition called keratosis pilaris. It comes and goes, not itchy or painful, present on the arms, etc. Again, it would be helpful to see it. You might want to look it up on Google and see some photos for comparison. I'd be happy to do a video consult if you'd like tonight. ...Read more
