Some thots: The maximum effective dose is 2400 mg per day, and beyond that the med provides no added benefit. Horizant is a once daily gabapentin, at 600 mg which might do better, but I have had more success with Dopamine agonists such as Mirapex or requip (ropinirole). ...Read more

Several: One of the most commonly used sleep aids is trazodone (deseryl), it is effective with negligible weight gain issues, melatonin has been used successfully. For short term use, Ambien and Lunesta (eszopiclone) have been helpful as well. Your doctor will be the best to ask about which one is the best match for you. There is no medication that "fits all"

I am on Valium, Neurontin, Motrin, Zantac, Skelaxin, (metaxalone) and Tramadol. What kinds of long-term affects should I be aware of with that combination?

Too many meds for: My liking. And more chance of side effects or other complications. The long term problems I would be concerned would be becoming addicted to one or more of these meds. AT least 3 of them are known to be addictive.
