4-6 weks: Usually it takes about 4-6 wks for antidepressant to exert full effect. Some may few imptovement in about 2 wks but often takes longer to maximally benefit from it. In my experience : Generally about 3-7 days as long as there has been a hint of a response at 50 mg, otherwise it could take up to 14 days if there has been no hint of a response yet. Not that simple: Assuming you haven't developed any liver or kidney disease in the last 5 years, the drug will be eliminated at the same rate whether you've taken it for 5 years or 5 days. The difference is that your brain may have accommodated to the drug in ways that are not dose-dependent.
