How Long Does Your Head Itch After Lice
My son continuously itches his hair and head especially when he sweats. He has no lice and no dandruff. What might be causing it?
Possible Fungus: Of the 5 common causes for itchy scalp (Seborrhea (dandruf), Psoriasis (inflammation), Fungus (ring worm), Head Lice, and Allergy), Fungal seems most likely. Try using an Anti-fungal shampoo or scalp cream. The pharmacist should be able to point out one that is safe for your son's age. Follow the directions on the shampoo. If this does not help, you should have his scalp examined. Hope this helps!
My head itches, its not lice, I think my head is just dry. I have been checked. Don't say go to the doctor! What should I do? Please help!
Dandruff shampoo: Are you african american or are you caucasian? If you are afro american try applying and oil to your scalp to see if that helps. If you were caucasian buy a dandruff shampoo and wash your hair more frequently to see if the itching goes away.
Itch: Itching scalp could be due to all the causes you listed, but it also could be due to a fungal infection. The type of shampoo you use can also cause this so I recommend switching to a hypoallergenic product if you haven't already. Also stress can sometime result in somatic symptoms such as itchiness, see your doctor soon to find the cause and get relief.
Check again: I would thouroughly check your head and hair again for any remaining lice or nits. Often, many of the treatments need to be repeated one week after initial treatment. Also, keep in mind that the shampoos used to treat lice can cause some irritation to the scalp which can induce itching and may not represent a residual lice infestation.
Smelly hair, itches, no flakes, no scales, no dandruff, no lice. Using neutrogena t/gel shampoo and conditioner. No relief. What is it?
Smelly Hair: Basically, unpleasant odor in hair arises due to microbial growth on oily scalp. Factors like poor personal hygiene, excessive sweating, strenuous physical activity, overactive sebaceous glands on scalp, exposure to chemicals and environmental pollution, cigarette smoking etc contribute in causing smelly hair.
Lice: It may take 2 to 3 weeks (or sometimes even longer) to become aware of lice or nits. Itching does not occur for all people.
Hi my head has been itching for at least 2 months now, and I have found 2 bugs in my hair one recently and one about a month ago, they look like lice?
ID bugs, then treat: There is an excellent YouTube video to help you identify lice - https://www. Youtube. Com/watch? V=aA7rZ2dI5lw. If this is what you see in your hair, consider using the Rid for Lice 1-2-3 Kit, sold on Amazon for less than $40. There are other natural product choices listed in the same section. Be vigilant to assure success against adult lice and their eggs. Treat your surroundings. Don't despair.
I have a crawly feeling on my scalp with some itching, this occurs in different places on my head and comes and goes. No head lice I checked.
My scalp is itching so bad it is uncomfortable and kinda of painful I don not have any flaking redness or head lice could this be normal or a more s?
I have itching but no rash. At first my head itched. Now I itch on and off all over but mostly head and upper back and arms. Check and can't find lice?
Itching can be lice: It is sometimes to see lice but they lay eggs at the hairline & they are visable as white pearl like blebs the size of a pin head. Hair grows about 1/2 inch/mo so distance away from the hair base tells you how long they have been there. If only dandruff & no nits you could be dealing with a scalp fungus.
Lice, mites, or tiny ticks infected my hair, face, and neck - itching and swelling after cleaning an empty cabin. Rid?
Will removing hair from the genital area helps in removing pubic lice and thereby prevent itching?
Pubic Lice: A lice-killing lotion containing 1% Permethrin or a mousse containing pyrethrins and piperonyl butoxide can be used to treat pubic ("crab") lice. These products are available over-the-counter without a prescription at a local drug store or pharmacy. These medications are safe and effective when used exactly according to the instructions in the package or on the label.
Head lice: Itching may continue even after all lice are destroyed. This happens because of a lingering allergic reaction to their bites. Over-the-counter cortisone (corticosteroid) creams or calamine lotion may help. For severe itching, antihistamine medicines (such as benadryl) or stronger, prescription-strength corticosteroid creams may be needed. Don't give antihistamines without doctors permission.See 1 more doctor answer
Head Lice: The life span of an adult louse on a host ranges up to 30 days. During this time, the female head louse can deposit about 90 eggs. After incubating for seven to 10 days, the nits hatch and, after another 10 days, mature into adult head lice and the cycle begins again. Off the host, adult head lice can live about two to four days at 74 degrees fahrenheit (f) and one to two days at 86 degrees.See 1 more doctor answer
Lice: If by infested you mean catch it from someone else - when the adult lice move to your head you may not feel any symptoms. As they start to hatch new ones you may notice many more and have more symptoms. This typically happens 6-12 days after exposure. Life cycle of a louse is 9-15 days. This is also why treatment should happen twice to get two life cycles.
