How Long Does Xanax Take To Work
Xanax (alprazolam): Hello. IF your liver metabolizes it normally, then xanax (alprazolam) should start working within 60-120 minutes. You are very young. Xanax (alprazolam) is not something that will be good for you to take long term. Xanax (alprazolam) is in a class of medications (benzodiazepines) which are very addictive. It's worse when stacked with opioids (narcotics). Your generation, from the statistics, has the highest risks. Avoid the risks.See 1 more doctor answer
Alprazolam is a short acting benzodiazepine, it does not last long in the system. So when used regularly with multiple doses to treat anxiety, it is associated with inter-dose withdrawal, tolerance and a resulting increase level of baseline anxiety. So in anxiety clinics, we use it only in cases of " flight, dentist or other infrequent anxieties, ...Read more
Xanax (alprazolam) fast action: Xanax, (alprazolam) klonopin, valium, serax, Librium are part of what is called the class of benzodiazepines. Some are fast acting and short acting as xanax= it works within 15mn and its effects on last a few hours. Valium is take hours to work and works for days. Addicts prefer fast acting meds (they cannot wait for hours for a med to work) but all benzos can be addictive. Never use any benzo more than 3mo.
Xanax (alprazolam): Is a fast acting and short acting (few hours only), only treat symptoms. It never treat any problem to the root cause of the problems. Thus is very addictive. Must always be given in conjonction with another med that treats the cause of the problem then stop it when the other med works well to suppress the symptoms. Never use as single med for more than 3months.See 2 more doctor answers

If I took 1mg Xanax (alprazolam) before my flight how long would it take to work? Hate airplane take off/landing. Makes me feel out of control as if im falling
Depends: Xanax (alprazolam) is a minor tranquilizer used often for anxiety or panic attacks. It does tend to be physically addictive. If you take it with any frequency, you will most likely become addicted to it. If you become addicted, you may develop cravings for xanax, (alprazolam) and your anxiety may increase if you do not take your regular dose.See 1 more doctor answer
Too low a dose?: Xanax (alprazolam) usually begins to work within an hour or so, so I'm not sure. Perhaps you take antacids or some other medicine that slows absorption. I suggest you consult with your treating physician to get a specific answer for you specifically. It could also be you need a dose adjustment.
60 hours: Assuming normal liver function = 12 hour half life and five 1/2 lives to clear, after 60 hours should be mostly gone.
5 to 6 days: If you are a daily heavy user it can take up to 30 days. But infrequent user or short term user at that dose no more than 6 days
Harmful or addictive: Taking this class of drugs can be very addictive. Daily use can lead to dependence in as little as 3-4 weeks. Also 2mg is a pretty high dose. If using for long term. Talk with your PCP. And try to find a safer alternative
Xanax (alprazolam) and drug tests: Hi I will assume you are asking this for drug screening. If not, I apologize. But xanax (alprazolam) is a benzodiazepine and can be picked up on drug screens for some time. You may be fortunate in that with only one dose you may not test positive as long as others who take this regularly. But, any drug screening done soon may most likely be positive.See 2 more doctor answers
I've been taking 2mg xanax (alprazolam) for a month. How long will it take until it's out of my system.
Most of it is gone: Xanax (alprazolam) is a short acting benzodiazepine so most of it is out of your system in a few hours. However there can be physical and psychological dependency on it. This can be treated. Also you would want to consider why did you need to take it. Obviously you had anxiety that was hard to deal with SO this is a good time to have a psychiatric evaluation and develop a treatment plan.See 1 more doctor answer
How long/how many days does it take for 0.25 mg doses of Xanax (alprazolam) to start taking affect and make one feel relaxed, calm, and less anxious?
Xanax (alprazolam) not working: The benzodiazepine (e.g. Xanax) naive patient should feel the effect within the hour. Individuals are unique and depending on one's pharmacogenetics/liver metabolism of medications, the medication may work for some but as well for others. The prescribing physician should be informed. More importantly, non-medicinal modalities & non-habit forming medications should be attempted first.See 1 more doctor answer
2.5 days: With a normal liver it will be gone very quickly. With liver disease it can take upto 4 days.
If they are both: Prescribed, they do not have to be taken at different times, and do not have very specific interactions. Occasionally, steroids may increase the metabolism of some drugs, although Alprazolam is not metabolized by that particular pathway. I would take both of them just as indicated on the label. Your pharmacist is your best source of information on these kinds of things.
