How Long Does Vitamin B12 Injection Last
Why do you need it?: Why are you getting injections? Did a doctor test for deficiency? Are you vegan? If not, why are you deficient? Don't get B12 injections or take pills (less expensive) unless you are vegan or have a known deficiency. B12 is in fish, chicken and meat. Eat fish like wild salmon for a healthy source of b12. ...Read more
Take effect?: I'm not sure what you mean by 'take effect.' the only indication for vitamin B12 injection is for people with severe B12 deficiency or those who are unable to absorb B12 from their diet. That applies to very few people. If you're being given B12 injections for 'energy, ' you should be aware that's it's a commonly administered placebo. ...Read more
Hello, I have received a vitamin B12 injection in my right arm I am experiencing numbness for a week is this normal? How long will it lsst?
Nerve damage: It sounds like a nerve in your upper arm was injured by the needle when you received the injection. This sort of damage usually does go away, but it can sometimes take a long time to heal. A properly given injection should not be done in a way that causes this type of injury. ...Read more
How long does it take to feel a difference from vitamin B12 injection I have mgus neuropathy and they said I was very low. 1pill a day 1injection. G?
I had 5 injections 1 a week for vitamin B12 deficiency. Now I wait till April 8th. How long before the symptoms get better. I'm also pre menopause.
I have pernicious anaemia had two injections of vitamin b12 last year which caused me to collapse and cardiac arrest so now they won't give me anythng?
I do not know what caused the collapse/ cardiac arrest (faint or go to ER?) - which is serious so before taking another form would discuss with doctor and would take the first dose in the doctor's office where you can be monitored. High dose oral supplementation is effective as well, as is sublingual and foods with B12 (liver beef, eggs) f/u/w/ doc

Many: The obvious answer is that B12 injections are a quick way to fix a deficiency. B12 injections can also be used to help calm pain and inflammation, but the dosage of that is different from the dosage for deficiency correction. Some people can develop allergy to the preservative in B12 injections. Itchy bumps at the site of the shot would be a sign. ...Read more
Can u tell me after I get vitamin B12 injection how does it work. I've had 4.i get another 2 more weekly. Then every 3 months. Where does it go.
Intramuscular: B12 is normally absorbed and metabolized in the stomach and intestine. But some people don't have the proper digestive enzymes to do this, so injections are needed. The B12 is is injected into muscle, absorbed into the blood stream, and stored in the liver (just like consumed B12) until needed for red blood cell formation, DNA synthesis and proper nerve function. Food sources: meat/fish/dairy. ...Read more

What test do I need to take to see if I am vitamin B12 deficient as well as what kind of dr administers the injections? Where can I go? Need help!
Simple blood test: Any lab can administer this test. Injections are the least preferred method to get sufficient vitamin b12. Get it from food such as wild salmon, sea kelp, and other sea vegetables. Don't let someone stick you with a needle if you can avoid it. Just a way to make money for some doctors and other health care providers. ...Read more

What is the best frequency of vitamin B12 injection, if somebody doesn't have any deficiency but prefers to have shot?
If there is no: Measurable need for additional b 12 you are better off not taking it. If you are a vegetarian you need to keep an eye on your b 12 level via a lab test w/your doc. Meat is our primary source of b 12. In general, sublingual b 12 tablets that melt under the tongue is a good way to absorb b 12. Oral b 12 goes through the GI system and most of it is lost. I have vitamin B12 defiency I get injections for life. I'm 4 foot 11. the blood reading was 160 on the B12 defiency. How bad was that reading..
Moderately low: Normal B12 levels for adults are 200-900 pg/mL. So 160 IS low. Also, many older adults will experience symptoms of deficiency even if the B12 is normal, but in low normal range. You must have been tested and learned that you lack intrinsic factor, a protein that helps the intestine absorb vitamin B12, or have other malabsorption issues, hence the need for injections. ...Read more

Optimal B12 is: Between 60 & 80 according to B12 experts. If the measuring stick in labs in your country are the same as in US, you are well beyond optimal. Maybe you mean 60. There are several kinds of headaches. Please see a headache expert for help. Don't get loaded up on pharmacy drugs. Use the Relaxation Response book by Herbert Benson. Will vitamin b12 injections cause weight gain. I don't want to gain weight. But I feel better taking them?
Whoa: If you have been prescribed B12 injections or other suitable replacement therapy based on sound evidence (i.e., labs and a real diagnosis), and you refuse to take them, you will pay for it with your health, your mind, and ultimately your life. They actually do not cause weight gain. SIck people feeling better after treatment may eat more. I'm sorry you were given faulty information. Best wishes. ...Read more
I am 22.My vitamin b12=76.Vitamin d=10.I am taking methylcobalmin 750 mg daily. And vit d tablets too. Do I need to take vit B12 injections too?
Wow, pretty low levels. I imagine you're taking 750 mcg daily, not mg. Increase to 1000 mcg 2x/day and chew the tablets- see http://bit. Ly/1cbhjvn
some people will be able to get adequate B12 this way while others will need injections, depending on their ability to absorb b12-if levels not higher in a month get shots.
For d, with levels that low try 10, 000 iu of d3/day: see http://bit. Ly/1gnxnk0. ...Read more
What foods has vitamin b12.If its to big a question what site should I go to look it all up. I have vitamin B12 Deficiency. I'm getting injections?
Injection best way: Vitamin B12 is present in animal proteins, including dairy. However, people deficient in B12 usually have problems absorbing B12, even when their dietary intake is normal. I have just been diagnosed with vitamin B12 Deficiency. I'm now getting injections 1 every week for 5 weeks then 1 every 3 months. Its for life to?
Yes: This is for keeps unless it turns out you have one of the rare causes of reversible malabsorption. Be thankful. In the Bad Old Days, B12 deficiency guaranteed a slow, miserable, suffocating death from anemia, with only the brain damage perhaps making it more bearable. I cannot overemphasize the seriousness of complying with your injections, and how glad I am this was caught early. ...Read more

A person is havig lucoderma. So should he take injections twice a weak of vitamin B12 as it is insuffecient in his body? . He is a vegetarian. Male 21 yr
Whoa: Something is wrong here. All vegetarians need to supplement with vitamin B12, but it's best done orally unless you cannot absorb the stuff that way. B12 shots twice a week is overkill; once a month is probably fine. Leukoderma is often vitiligo, or sometimes tinea versicolor or something else; a proper diagnosis needs to be made. And vitiligo can run with pernicious anemia. Needs to be sorted out. ...Read more
