Valium (diazepam) is an older benzodiazepine tranquilizer. It was the #1 prescribed drug (of any kind) in the us in the late 1960s but is used less now due to drug interactions and active metabolites. It is still used for anxiety and as "pre-medication" for uncomfortable medical and minor surgical procedures. It is habit-forming, should not be used with alcohol, ...Read more

Quite a while: The "half life of elimination" of Valium (diazepam) plus its active metabolites ranges from 40 to 100 hours - depending on the individual. The the rule of thumb in pharmacokinetics is that it requires 5 half lives for a drug to reach negligible levels. So, the estimate would be from 200 to 500 hours to completely eliminate diazepam from the human body. ...Read more
About 4-7 days: Valium is a long acting benzodiazepine with active metabolites. It gets metabolized by the liver. It's clearance from the body depends on the condition of your liver and the presence of competing substances. Also, detection of valium in the urine is also based on the sensitivity and specificity of the test. ...Read more

With chronic use...: With chronic use, the terminal elimination half-life of the active metabolite of valium (diazepam) can be up to 100 hours. It takes five half-lives for the body to completely eliminate a drug and, therefore, could potentially take up to 3 weeks to completely be absent from the body. ...Read more

Impossible to tell you exactly how long but why don't you just stop taking valium and you wouldn't have to ask. ...Read more
Pretty long!: Detectable 5-7 days after use. Chronic use (over one year) of Valium, however, can be detected much longer. The detection window for Valium in urine screens is up to 4-6 weeks esp in older folk. If you have a prescription, it should not be a problem - bring it. Also, try to avoid stress w/ CBT it's healthier for you than a pill! ...Read more
For a drug test,:
Valium is one of the longer half-life benzodiazepines. A urine drug test could in theory show metabolites of diazepam (Valium) for 5-6 days after taking a dose. The metabolites have a 48 hour half life.
For a 4 mg single dose, if you're not a chronic user, your system should be clear now by day 8 with a good degree of certainty. ...Read more
Have anxiety took Valium now taking somethin else how long it take to pass urine test and get out of system?
7-40 days, will vary: How long it takes before you pass depends on 3 things: 1) your genetics: the efficiency of your cyp liver enzymes governs benzodiazepine elimination. Slow metabolizers can have the drug in their system for 50 days, depending on the initial dose. 2) the type of assay used 3) the sensitivity cutoff for the test. The department of defense, for instance, has lower cutoff values to test positive. ...Read more
The hospital gave me Valium injection in my IV I had a drug test a week later and it still showing how long will it stay in my system. Why?
Valium is a long-: Acting benzodiazepine (anxiety reliever/ muscle relaxer/seizure stopper/etc). Its half-life (amount of time for 1/2 to be eliminated) is 20–100 hours (much longer in chronic users) but the half-life for its main active metabolite desmethyldiazepam is 36-200 hours that's almost 10 days for 1/2 to be eliminated. Figure on at least 6 or more half-lives for it to be undetectable in typical drug screen. ...Read more
Depends: The duration of action is on average 7-8 hrs but that doesn't mean it will be cleared from your system by then. I suppose it depends on what the drug test screens for and it they will consider a benzodiazepine as an illicit drug. You can always get a note from the dentist perhaps? ...Read more
Time.: I don't know of any scientifically valid and practically useful way to get rid of of any medication or drug out of the system. Each takes it's own time. Your asking this question, however, raises concern whether you are misusing this medication. If so, please consider getting help asap - addiction to this medication can be dangerous, and abruptly stopping it can be equally so. Good luck! ...Read more

Finding conflicting info on Healthtap regarding length of Valium staying in system for ua. Doctor answered me, but no other answers I've seen?
Yes it is confusing:
Yes it is confusing, because for valium itself, the half life is 36 hours by average, but it turns to an active metabolite which has 80 hr (by average) half life instead.
Having that said, if we count on valium's active metabolite, it will take 240 hours (3-4 half lifes) to have valium and metabolites cleared out from your body
hope this answer is final and you would not seek more help. ...Read more

Toxicology: I am not a toxicologist, but valium's effectiveness on your mental star is typically no longer than 8 hours, but when it comes to how long it's metabolites will stay in your bloodstream or urine, I am not sure. If you have to know when you can drive without being under influence of it, eight hours or so ...Read more
