Took 2 doses daily of Bactrium for 5 days for urethritis. How long until I can have sex? Today was last day. Symptoms are pretty much gone.
Recommend 7 days: from the start of taking the antibiotic before engaging in sexual activities. When you say "pretty much gone", that's not very reassuring. Make sure you don't rush back into the activity which gave you a UTI in the first place. If you still have symptoms, you will need a swab culture to make sure the right antibiotic was selected. 7 days - finish meds: There's no way to cure urethritis any faster, not even by increasing antibiotic dose. Of course, you can increase your risk for developing resistance by not finishing your course of antibiotics. You'll feel better before you finish but that doesn't mean you can save remainder for your next infection. I cannot overstress that you need to finish your antibiotics.
