Sleep disruption from apnea, periodic limb movement, joint pain, menopause symptoms, alcohol, or too much food before bed mean not enough hours of quality sleep & miserable mornings. Can be done at birth: If there are feeding issues it can be done at birth. Pediatric ents are often comfortable doing this if pediatricians aren't. I do them all the time for this reason in clinic. If there aren't symptoms, it's your choice to do it or wait and see if other issues develop such as speech problems, issues with brushing teeth or licking an ice cream cone.
