Mri (Definition)

Mri or magnetic resonance imaging is one of the more recently developed imaging modalities available to physicians. It uses powerful magnets to generate images. There is no ionizing radiation which is a major advantage over many other modalities. Mri is the best imaging exam that we have for most soft tissue and joint related problems. There are radiologists ...Read more

How long does it take to get results from a brain MRI? I had it Monday , it's now Saturday and I haven't heard anything. I'm worried.

Depends on center: Most imaging center and hospital radiologists will create a formal report of your study any where from within a few hours to a few days of your scan. Long term numbness on left side eyesight blurry. Been over a year now symptoms getting worse more numbness earache what could it be? Brain MRI clear

Long term numbness on left side eyesight blurry. Been over a year now symptoms getting worse more numbness earache what could it be? Brain MRI clear

Need a long-term doc: your condition sounds serious. You should establish care with a doctor who can follow your symptoms & guide you appropriately (perhaps whoever ordered the MRI?). Alternatively, use HealthTap Prime. Since the MRI, I assume, is negative, thoughts of a complicated Migraine and Temporal Arteritis come to mind. Other tests (mainly clinical exam) establish these conditions - won't show up on Radiology. ...Read more

Whole body MS symptoms: neuropathy, trigeminal pain, parathesia, etc. Brain MRI normal. I had shingles not long before this. Could it be post viral?

Response: First, doubt we can blame the shingles. But do you have evolution of a peripheral neuropathy, or even MS which has not been demonstrated.. Second, get EMG testing over the limbs. Third, get MRI of cervical spines. If this all proves fruitless, we would be happy to schedule Concierge visit online. ...Read more

Does a brain MRI need contrast to look at chirari?

Does a brain MRI need contrast to look at chirari?

No: Noncontrasted MRI is the test of choice to radiographically diagnose Chiari's. Be aware that there is something called PHASE-CONTRAST MRI or abbreviated PC-MRI. This imaging technique can be used (and is very useful in some cases when looking at headaches associated with Chiari's) to image the malformation. It DOES NOT utilize IV-contrast though the word "contrast" is in the name of the test. ...Read more
