2 options: If he is seemingly healthy, active, appetite good and no other symptoms, I would recommend watchful waiting. If any concurrent symptoms, he just isn't himself, poor growth or weight loss, fevers, then I would suggest a biopsy of one of the nodes. Make sure he has also had a TB test done as well. Also, if you have a cat, have him checked for cat-scratch disease (blood test). ...Read more

Usually not: No, usually not...Unless if you really push or pull the area so hard that you hurt yourself so badly or create an open wound/skin irritation, infection or inflammation over the skin or the area--then the lymph node adjacent to the trauma can be swollen up due to the trauma. Go see an ENT doctor: It could be just repeated viral infections(colds) but you need to be sure that you do not have strept throat. A visit to your ENT doctor can help. If you want to try controlling it on your own, i wiould sugges that you try taking vitamin c, 500mg daily and give it a 6 month trial(it is pretty cheap vitamin).
