How long after root canal treatment before permanent seal is put in, and is it normal if it is still hurting?

How long after root canal treatment before permanent seal is put in, and is it normal if it is still hurting?

Permanent Seal?: By permanent seal, do you mean permanent build up? Permanent crown? Or permanent rc filling. If there is still pain, the root canal treatment should not be completed, and if it is completed, my opinion is that the root canal filling should be removed and either extra/accessory nerve canals looked for and cleaned, or if all has been found, the canals should be medicated till pain is gone. ...Read more

A pulpectomy is a dental procedure in which all of the pulp in the pulp chamber and root canal of a tooth is removed, but not sealed. Can you tell me how many x rays they take for root canal treatment of a lower molar?

Depends: Generally a preoperative x-ray (one straight on and one at an angle), if the dentist is using a root zx apical locator then a cone picture, if not then a file film and a cone picture with a final picture showing the canals filled and one of the build up. Even with all the x-rays these days the dose is so low standing outside or going to the airport security doses you more than the rct pictures. ...Read more

Can I take Advil (ibuprofen) while taking vicodin after root canal therapy?

Can I take Advil (ibuprofen) while taking vicodin after root canal therapy?

Sure: Multimodal therapy is very effective for acute pain. Advil 800 mg every 8 hours for a few days can be taken independent of vicodin dosing. As the pain improves consider replacing the vicodin with plain tylenol (acetaminophen) 625 mg every 6 hours. Try to avoid taking tylenol (acetaminophen) and vicodin at the same time as vicodin also contains tylenol (acetaminophen). Max daily tylenol (acetaminophen) should not exceed 4 grams. ...Read more
