IUD check: With Mirena (levonorgestrel) periods are usually very light. When a patient with Mirena (levonorgestrel) tells me there periods have suddenly gotten heavy I want to see them in the office to check the IUD location. Occasionally the uterus tries to expel it. My lower abdomen hurts after masturbating for a long time. Should I be worried?

My lower abdomen hurts after masturbating for a long time. Should I be worried?

Not usually.: Assuming no vigorous penetration is done, lower abdominal soreness may simple result from uterine spasm that may occur with orgasm (clitoral/vaginal). Also, some women with endometriosis may note pain with sex/penetration but not necessarily with clitoral orgasm. Without hore history, it sounds more like uterine "soreness" from orgasmic spasm. Doesnt sound like anything pathological. ...Read more

Lower abdomen: It is likely there is strain of testicular structures or build up of excessive congestion and or irritation/mild inflammation of testicle or epididymis. Irritation/inflammation in the testicular area can cause referred discomfort in the lower abdomen and groin. I advise reducing masturbation and let things settle down. See your physician or a urologist if discomfort persists. ...Read more

Hello, I have had an uncomfortable pain the last couple days in my lower abdomen. Today it burns when I urinate. There's also a tinge of pink in it.

Possible UTI: Given you gender and age, this could represent a urinary tract infection (UTI), which is usually associated with urinary frequency and burning. No: If you need avelox, you need to be evaluated by a physician. Self treating with Avelox could be dangerous and i don't recommend it. Avelox is serious antibiotic used for serious infections. One the one hand, you may not need it. Secondly, you may get serious side effects, third, if you do have a serious infection, it may not respond.
