I was diagnosed with genital herpes today. It really hurts when I urinate what can I do? Ps I am a female even though my profile says male!
Genital herpes: Primary (first episode) genital herpes can be much more severe than episodes with relapse in the future (if they occur). Ulcers can be associated with pain on urination and can precipitate urinary retention. Appropriate antiviral treatment with Acyclovir or valacyclovir should help healing. ...Read more
I had sexual intercourse with a man with genital herpes he used a condom and took his medicine before I have pain only in gspot feeling of constant urination does that mean I have genital herpes?
Very unlikely: Transfer of HSV infection to another part of the body (auto-inoculation) sometimes occurs during the first few weeks after catching the virus. Once someone has had genital or oral herpes more than 2-3 months, auto-inoculation is very rare. Use common sense hygiene, i.e. wash hands after toilet, and limit hand contact with face/eyes during genital herpes outbreaks. Otherwise no worries about it. ...Read more
I have genital herpes. First outbreak was lengthy but after six months of getting this virus I am feeling less & some time cloudy urine. Why is that?
Genital herpes: Cloudy urine isn't usually a symptom of genital herpes. The urine could be cloudy for other reasons - hydration, bladder infection, foods and medicines you take. The first outbreak of herpes, though, usually is the worst, and if you were treated with antivirals it should decrease number and severity of outbreaks. ...Read more
Probably not: In general, transmission of herpes virus requires direct contact of an infected surface with a susceptible one, usually with rubbing to massage the virus into the tissues. Urine is an unlikely source of infection. But I would advise you to not press your luck with intentional urine exposure, especially to the eyes (e.g. "golden shower"). ...Read more
If you have genital herpes and you go to take a pee and a little drop of urine lands on your upper lip, will you get infected?
Probably not: Transfer of an HSV infection from the area first involved to another area is called auto-inoculation. It sometimes occurs during the first infection, i.e. within several weeks of catching the virus. After that, the immune system prevents auto-inoculation. If someone has had genital or oral herpes more than a few months, it is very unlikely s/he will ever self infect other places on the body. ...Read more

Is there a way to determine how long a person has had genital herpes after finding out about the infectio?
No: No, unless you saw your doctor and had a blood test the first time you had an ulcer and the antibody test only showed the acute form, IgM. That would suggest you were infected sometime in the prior 6 weeks. After that point, IgM goes away and the permanent antibody, IgG, develops. If the test shows only IgG, then there is no way to know ...Read more

Is it possible that a couple tiny red dots (not blisters) on underside of penis that only lasted 3 days were recurrent genital herpes?
Probably not: Almost certainly this isn't herpes, which doesn't cause "red dots" that don't become blisters or open sore. And no herpes outbreak can heal entirely in only 3 days; 7-10 days is the minimum. If you have been diagnosed with genital herpes, follow your doctor's advoce about management. If worried about herpes but not diagnosed, the "red dots" don't suggest you have it. ...Read more
