Hello. I made a mistake and used lotriderm cream instead of travogen cream in my vagina because it was itching is this dangerous?
Lotriderm: Lotriderm is a combination steroid and anti-fungal while travogen is a combination anti-fungal and anti-bacterial. Normally we wouldn't advise using a steroid inside the vagina. If you applied it on the outside, it will not be harmful at all. If inside, it may make the situation worse depending on the cause of the itching. ...Read more

Dear dr. My doctor recommended me gyno- travogen for my fungal infection. Right now I am 12 weeks pregnant. I inserted it once and saw blood on the tube after taking it out. Is it safe?
Bleeding: When you're pregnant, your cervix is friable (bleeds easily). You likely inserted the cream a bit too far inside. I would notify your OB and just confirm he/she doesn't want you evaluated. I prefer using oral diflucan (fluconazole) or the suppositories because of this common issue. ...Read more
Do u have to get an internal exam at the gyno if ur 20 but a virgin? I'm so nervous cause one finger even hurts. Is it necessary if I'm still a virgin
Doubt it: Most recommend a true pelvic after the initiation of sexual encounters or age 21, whichever is first. Many of the organ issues the are evaluated at such visits can be assessed by ultrasound, and/or the docs have specialized equipment to work with virginal patients. Just be very open about your status & it shouldn't be a problem. ...Read more

Hi I’m 22 weeks pregnant, last week I want to see a gynecologist she made me pay a penalty fee because I came to consult after 20 weeks, is that legal?

How to get rid of yeast infection permanently? My gynecologist gave me 2 pink pills (i forgot the name) to take one per week. However, I'm aware that it'll come back later because it happened before. And it really bothers me a lot. What can I do to get ri
Hopefully the medication your doctor gave you will work for your current infection. 5% of women will have recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis (rvvc) which is classified as 4 or more vaginal yeast infections per year. This is typically treated with 6 months or more of antifungal medication. Talk to your doctor if you think you fit into this category.
Other things you can do to prevent reccurence is to avoid douching, avoid scented hygiene products, change tampons and pads frequently during menses, avoid tight, non breathable fabrics and change out of wet bathing suits as soon as possible.
I've attached a website below with lots of great information about yeast infections. I hope this helps! ...Read more
My gynecologist gave me tindamax last week for a vaginal infection. I am still showing discharge this week. Shouldn't it have worked by now?
My vagina and vulva have been itchy for a few days, usually at night. Slight spotting now. One partner, clean pap. What can it be? Gyno appt. Monday.
I have UTI from last yr october an it won't go my gyno gave me cipro (ciprofloxacin) caz my urine culture say ecoli. My urine still look foamy. He told me if cipro (ciprofloxacin) no work he will give me a low antibiotic for mths.
Have it checked out: Your symptoms may not be infectious bladder infection. If this has been going on for a year then you need to have further work up with a urogynecologist or urologist. If it truly is a UTI then they need to figure out why this is chronic. Long term antibiotics may be necessary. ...Read more

I got my 1st HPV in Dec of 2010 which I had no reaction to. I didn't get my second one until Oct of 2013. I had tingling in my arms and legs after that one for 2 weeks and my gyno said don't get the 3rd but im scared im at risk only getting two?
OK to re-vaccinate: It is unlikely the tingling was a vaccine side effect; I think your gynecologist was being unnecessarily cautious. You still need 2 more doses and maybe 3. Back in 2010, the vaccine covers only 4 HPV types; but in 2013, it could have been either Gardasil-4 or Gardasil-9. Nowadays, only G-9 is available; you need a total of 3 G-9 doses. ...Read more

I: I am very concerned about several things here. That is way too much Ibuprofen (advil and Motrin are other words for ibuprofen). Taking 800 mg every 6 hours for a few days is a lot, but taking 800 mg every two hours is very concerning, and can cause side effects with your stomach and your kidneys. You need to be immediately evaluated for this pain and irregular bleeding. It is not normal. Sometimes these symptoms can occur in the first few months after a mirena, (levonorgestrel) but you state you are 25 months out, so these symptoms are very abnormal. Please have a complete gynecological evaluation. You likely need an imaging study such as an ultrasound. There are other pain medications that you can be treated with. Please be seen immediately for your symptoms. ...Read more
Can a gynecologist understand that I am taking birth control pills based on my blood test results? If yes, for how long do they stay in blood system?
Should one do any blood test, pelvic ultrasound etc. Before trying to get pregnant? And how soon after getting pregnant should go see a gynecologist?
Preconception Care: Consulting a clinician who provides preconception care (Reviews your medical, family, genetic and gyn history, performs a complete physical exam with or without a pelvic ultrasound, checks your CBC, blood type/Rh, rubella immunity and other screening tests, offers folic acid and discusses your reproductive plans) 2 to 3 months before getting pregnant is a great idea. Start prenatal care ASAP. ...Read more
Is an irregular period something to be concerned about? About two years ago I started having clots durring my period and brest tenderness the week before (which my gyno said was normal for both). Last month my period started 10 days early and this month
This is something that needs to be evaluated further. Stress can play a role but other things should be considered as well. Depending on your age, your doctor may want to do an endometrial (uterine) biopsy. A pap needs to be done if not done in the past year and a pelvic ultrasound may be necessary to rule out fibroids (benigh tumor of the uterus). A much more detailed history will be needed prior to your doctor doing any diagnostic testing and work up.
All the best. ...Read more
With the doctor's...: With his hands, eyes, ears, and nose. A stethoscope helps him hear sounds in the chest and abdomen. Several types of electric lights help him better see the mouth, throat, vulva, vagina, and cervix. Magnifying glasses are sometimes used. A vaginal speculum holds the vaginal walls apart so he can look inside. Gloves protect his hands as he checks inside the vagina with 2 fingers. All very routine. ...Read more
