How Long Does Nicotine Stay In The Bloodstream
Thc in bloodstream: Hunault et al 2000 calculated that high dose (23 %) marihuana can stay in your blood stream up to 8 hours. However cannabis users can have products of metabolism circulating and excreted for prolonged periods of time. Cannabis users are usually identified through detection of 11-nor-9-corboxy-delta9-tetrahydrocannabinol (thccooh) in urine. Thccooh may be detectable up to 3 months. ...Read more
Variable, but the: Companies that manufacture the tests say that saliva can remain positive for 7-10 days, whereas blood and urine tests are generally negative within 3-5 days. Nicotine per se stays only for a few minutes, and is metabolized to cotinine, an inactive metabolite, which is what is generally tested for. Thats why people smoke 20-30 puffs for each cigarette, and smoke 20 or more cigarettes per day. ...Read more
A while.: If you are asking how long it will show up in a drug screen, the answer is several days. But, more importantly, methamphetamine causes damage, that is permanent, to the brain. It burns out the pleasure centers of the brain, and lead to being depressed. It can also lead to a permanent disorder of psychosis. And both do not not respond to medications. So, don't use it! ...Read more
Depends on the med: Most short acting narcotics (percocet, vicodin etc) last about 3-4 hours. Most long acting narcotics (ms contin, Opana er, oxycontin) last 8-12 hours and the duragesic/fentanyl patches last 72 hours. Any narcotic can persist in your bloodstream for one week to one month depending on how well your kidneys and liver filter out toxins. ...Read more
Doesn't accumulate: Really doesn't matter that much if you are a heavy or light user. Nicotine is a very short-acting chemical and is only active in bloodstream for a few hours, then is converted to a metabolite cotinine that is metabolically inactive, but is what most drug tests look for. It sticks around in blood for 1-2 days, in urine for 2-4 days, oral swabs can pick it up a little longer, perhaps 3-5 days. ...Read more
I don't believe it: accumulates in the placenta, any differently than any other tissue. Heroin is a very short acting drug, and heroin itself only lasts a few hours. Its metabolites can be found in blood and tissue for perhaps 6-8 hours, and urine tests can remain positive for metabolites for a couple of days. I am not aware that placentas are checked for drugs - usually its meconium in the baby (its first stool). ...Read more
Toxicology: I am not a toxicologist, but valium's effectiveness on your mental star is typically no longer than 8 hours, but when it comes to how long it's metabolites will stay in your bloodstream or urine, I am not sure. If you have to go for a drug test for work, tell them when you have last taken it, be honest. If you have to know when you can drive without being under influence of it, eight hours or so ...Read more
Half life and more: That depends on that you mean by "your system." the "half life" of morphine (the time it takes once it peaks in the body for half of it to have been metabolized) is about 2 hours. But it takes about 3 days to eliminate 85% totally from the body for an average person's liver. That said, its metabolites are detectable in a urine test oftentimes for a week, and in a hair test almost permanently. ...Read more
One Month: For a heavy user up to one month, rarely longer. Thc really doesn't stay in the blood stream, rather-it is stored in fat and is considered fat soluble. In fact, that is why it can take so long to get out of the body. The thc has to get out of the fat cells. It does depend upon, as one colleague has noted, the frequency of the use as well as the potency of the drug. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
3-4 days: A single cigarette will give a positive urine cotinine for 1-2 days, regular smokers generally 3-4 and rarely 5 days, and blood tests can detect it for about the same time. Oral swabs may detect if for a bit longer, up to 7-10 days, and it can be found in hair drug testing for months, depending on the length of hair chosen. ...Read more
