How long can mono symptoms last doc said i was recently exposed to it but i been having the symptoms for over 1year. Can it be something else? Nueuro?

Dr assumed I had a false positive for Mono, & gave a z-pk for strep. I now have this horrible rash, how long does a z-pk induced rash last?

How sure is the dx?: Reactivated mononucleosis is unusual. Most cases of mono are caused by EBV but CMV also can cause. While exceptions exist, usually mononucleosis confers lifelong immunity. Serologies are often used to check, however remain positive after acquiring the infection even many years. The monospot (EBV) is usually only positive for 3-5months p. infx. Not much: The IGG antibodies that develop after mono are not passed in significant quantities in breast milk.They do pass through the placenta, so that immunity is available for the first 3 months or so.
