I did 4th Generation HIV test after around 4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,14,15 weeks of an exposure. Is this 100% conclusive? can i get back safely to my wife

Sero-conversion: The whole concept of delayed sero-conversion dates back to old & sloppy tests. PCR testing now will show virus in the blood with or without antibodies. If you need to cling to the old adages...at 6 months..99.99% of the population will have developed antibodies after an exposure..thus the 6 month window. Rapid testing HIV: You can get oraquick otc, a home oral test that is quite accurate, and then follow up with a more detailed antibody test at 4-6 weeks and again in three months. There are rare individuals who do not become positive until 6 mos. If you want to spend the money there is an RNA pcr which will be definitive if negative at 4 wks. Try to be patient.: When i order an HIV test, i usually get the results back in a week. I don't know if they are sent out to a different facility to be run. I think people have come to expect medical treatment to be a bit like the mcdonald's drive through. ...Read more

I took a oraquick at home HIV test that you buy from drugstore 6 years after possible exposure. Is that too long after to take it? I did two of them to be extra sure, if that matters. Both negative.
