Can I take colchicine alone as a preventative for gout? Will it lower uric acid levels or must I take with either Allopurinol or Uloric?
Colchicine: Colchicine alone is effective in diminishing gout. Yes. Allopurinol is not mandatory but of course helps. Also, avoid alcohol, animal fats, organ meats and shellfish. Limit other meats to 4 oz per day. Avoid high fructose corn syrup containing drinks. Add egg whites, quinoa, soy as protein. Eat lots of fruit and veggies. Drink 3 liters per day. ...Read more
See details: Do you have a history of gout or kidney stones? If not, you do not need this med. I assume you are describing your urine uric acid, otherwise the value you mentioned does not make sense. A value of 483 is a normal 24 hour urine uric acid level. Febuxostat starts to work almost immediately and peaks by 3 weeks. ...Read more
0.48 mmol/l urate level, high BP level, taking 10/10 mg. Perindropil&amlodipine medicine. Is it good to take lemon with warm water to lower uric acid?
Yes: Uric acid is a byproduct of protein consumption, an excess of which can cause gout or kidney stones. Though excess uric acid (hyperuricemia) associated with frequent episodes of gout or kidney stones may require prescription drugs for control, appropriate changes in one's diet is often all that is needed: good hydration, reducing purine intake (red meats), and neutralizing uric acid (lemon water). ...Read more
Uric acid: Whether or not you need to lower your uric acid level depends on whether it is causing problems. The main issue with a high uric acid level is the possibility of having gout attacks. If you are not having negative effects from the elevated uric acid then it is called "asymptomatic hyperuricaemia" and it is generally not felt to be necessary to treat it. Follow-up with your doctor to discuss. ...Read more
My uric acid level is 8.8 mg/dl. What precautions and medicines should I take to bring it in normal?
Maybe, but...: The mechanism for how lemon decreases uric acid sounds reasonable, but that doesn't mean using it makes a difference for real life problems. I would not rely on lemon alone to prevent gout or kidney stone formation - as there are no great studies that show that relying on lemon alone works. You're much better sticking to "gout diet" provided by your doctor which encompasses many dietary changes. ...Read more
Esr is 32 and uric acid level 6.5. ..is it gout? What long term treatment duration for this value of esr and uricacid.
Absolutely not, man: Uric acid in the reference range for a man. Send rate is worthless in the diagnosis of gout and this pathologist considers yours essentially normal. Don't focus on an important disease that you do not have. Find the correct explanation for your symptoms, with the same smarts that led you to rule out gout. Best wishes. ...Read more

I have high uric acid in my blood, 8.45. Doctor prescribed me Allopurinol. How long should I use it to lower my uric acid? Thank you.
Hyperuricemia: While (very painful) gout is due to high uric acid levels, asymptomatic hyperuricemia (high levels w/o symptoms of disease) is not a disease per se. In fact, 2/3 of those w/high uric acid levels will never develop disease. However, you're playing w/fire. But rather than take medication, consider staying hydrated & potentially eating a low purine diet (not very tasty). Check level if you take meds ...Read more

I am 48 years old and my uric acid level is 6.7, I don't take any medicine. I always hv body & muscle pain & lethergy. How to get rid of it.
Treat gout: I think I would treat you for gout symptoms even though your uric acid level is high normal range. There are a lot of conditions and even dietary issues that can give lower uric acid levels while you can have uric acid crystals in your joints causing severe joint symptoms. I would recommend a complete laboratory workup for the bone and muscle pain and lethargy. Don't let go of this. ...Read more
