For gallbladder removed laparoscopically most people are out of the hospital in less than 24 hours and some can get back to work in a couple of days. Others may have more trouble dealing with pain after surgery and take longer to recover. If your gallbladder is very sick.... ...Read more

I had gallbladder surgery this morning and now I'm in extreme pain, the pain medication is not helping. What else can I take?
Ill-advised: I don't recommend taking a stimulant laxative so soon after surgery, even if it was done laparascopically. Artificially induced peristalsis can be quite painful, occasionally dangerous, post op if the bowel isn't ready to resume working normally.
