Depends: This depends on who performs the biopsy: radiologist or surgeon. I take a more hands on approach and deliver results in my office, in person in 2-3 days after the biopsy. If you have not received notification in 3 days, I recommend calling the physician who performed the procedure. 8 out of 10 biopsies performed will have non-cancerous results. ~48hrs: Most basic pathology results from a biopsy should be available in ~48hrs. The tissue needs to fix in formalin for a particular amount of time (6hrs-overnight) then be processed, slides made and stained, then interpreted. Each of these steps takes time.
