How Long Does It Take To Get Rid Of Bronchitis
How long does it take to get rid of bronchitis. Do I need to stay in bed all day. How can I take of it?
Depends.: This year I have seen a number of patients with cough for three weeks and more. There is no need to stay in bed. Get up and get things moving. Eat well and drink plenty of fluids. Take meds for symptomatic relief. Report to your doc if things don't seem right or if you develop serious signs or symptoms. Read more
I was diagnosed with Bronchitis (Could have been pneumonia). I was prescribed Cefdinir. How come the symptoms of bronchitis take so long to get rid of?
Bronchitis blues: Depending on the germ that caused the bronchitis and you, the patient, symptoms of something like that can vary. Not sure if your doc 'nailed' the etiology of the cough -if it was pertussis, then that cough can last for weeks. Conversely, if you have 'reactive airways'--something like asthma or sensitivity in the breathing tubes, you could cough for a while as well. Call ur doc if not better soon. Read more

Decongestant medicines can help if the cough is related to sinus drainage. Giving the bronchitis ample time to clear is advisable but if you develop fevers, shortness of breath, chest pains, or bloody sputum, it may be time to see your doctor. Read more

Not a simple answer: Bronchitis in generally healthy individuals is probably a viral syndrome that is treated symptomatically. If there are other medical conditions present (smoker, copd, immunodeficiency) then some bacteria may be the cause and antibiotics can be prescribed. Asthma at times can be misdiagnosed as bronchitis. Speaking with one's physician should help define the best treatment. Read more
