How Long Does It Take To Get Mri Scan Results
When getting an MRI scan for cervical cancer, will the test results be ready that day or how long does it take?
1-3 days: You should have the results within 72 hrs. You certainly have the right to call and ask if you haven't heard by then. Many times it is read the same day. Good luck. ...Read more
Mri or magnetic resonance imaging is one of the more recently developed imaging modalities available to physicians. It uses powerful magnets to generate images. There is no ionizing radiation which is a major advantage over many other modalities. Mri is the best imaging exam that we have for most soft tissue and joint related problems. Less tha an hour: And probably more like 30 -40 minutes, maybe not even this long. I think it has to do with how new the machine is. Some very new machines have faster acquisition times. The radiologist should be able to provide a more exact answer as to the length of time for this imaging test. ...Read more

Hey, tomorrow I'm having a MRI scan on my head, its to do with my ears! How long does an MRI take?
I went in to get an MRI scan on my spine and I was scared. The lady had me try it for about 40 second before I had them take me out. Now I remember I had surgical staples for a cut on my scalp years ago. I never had them taken out should I be worried?
Go to your doctor: As far as your MRI is concerned, it's probably fine. The concerns with MRI are certain metals that can be moved due to the magnetic force. Many metals used into the medical field aren't made of those types of metal. I'm more concerned w/possibility of surgical staples being in place for a year. Maybe they used suture which your body absorbed. I recommend you see your doctor to get this sorted out ...Read more

Needs consult: Best option is with your GP or the doctor who ordered it. If in the waikato area can have a virtual consult and if done at the public hospital we may be able to access the result but we're not trained specialists and may have difficulty interpreting it so seeing GP or the specialist who ordered it would be the safest option here. ...Read more
MRI: I'm not sure what the question is. Are you asking what you need to do to prepare for an MRI? You don't need to do anything in particular. You will need to inform the technologist of any metal devices or objects in your body that might contraindicate the MRI, such as a pacemaker. You will get a thorough questionnaire about this. If you are getting IV contrast they will need to know about kidney fx ...Read more
I have high prolactin levels am female and 17 I am waiting an MRI scan which will take 2-3 weeks will I be okay till then if I have a tumour?
Prolactin: A lot of people have a mildly high prolactin (i.e. Less than 100). If it is a tumor, the size of the tumor is proportional to the prolactin, so if prolactin is less than 100, the tumor is likely small. Prolactin tumors are almost always treated with medications, like cabergoline, and not surgery. Don't worry. You may need to see an endocrinologist. ...Read more
Hurt my coccyx when I was younger from a fall and I get discomfort from it now. Had a MRI scan and everything came normal what else can do? . thanks
Coccyx MRI: You may have injured one of the small discs between the coccyx bones. These can be very subtle and possibly missed if the study was reviewed by someone without advanced training. If you believe that the reading of your MRI may have missed something, I can provide a second opinion, if you have the MRI on a CD. Send me a Message at HealthTap. How do I ease my back pain I have had a MRI scan which shows scarring, compression on my spine and I am on endone, when I don't take this my back ach?
See a back surgeon: Find a good back doctor you can trust, either an orthopedic surgeon or neurosurgeon, who specializes in backs. Sounds like you've had the work up. The last thing i'd recommend is a narcotic except for immediate post surgical pain. You'll get hooked on those things and breaking yourself of that habit will be worse than the back pain! exercise to strengthen your back muscles. ...Read more

That depends: That depends on the symptoms and the area to be evaluated. I am assuming that your uncle cannot have an MRI study with contrast due to renal problems. He can still have an MRI of the area of concern without contrast enhancement, which may give you the answer. Can MRI scan detect mild edema from water intoxication after 12 days of having water intoxication. How much time take edema to be visible in MRI?
Depend...: Varies and depends upon the body size, nutrition status, duration and pace of water excess, etc. Remember it is important to interpret the clinical pictures not by the number alone but combined with common sense and wisdom to make a reasonable decision. If getting panic by a number or single symptom or unrelated symptoms, that is practicing medicine, but no-brainer reactionary. So, talk with doc. ...Read more

Have had over 6 months TMJ treatment (pt and splint) but TMJ still not fully resolved. Is it time to get an MRI scan?
Possibly: It depends on the level of breakdown our of your joints... If you have a full anterior disk displacement without reduction, then the answer is likely yes, to get an MRI for baseline... If the breakdown is extra capsular, or in the muscles, then possibly not...Depending on the severity, and remodeling of the joint, resolution can take 2-3 years... Also depends on parafunction (clenching/grinding). ...Read more
