How Long Does It Take To Get Mri Scan Results
When getting an MRI scan for cervical cancer, will the test results be ready that day or how long does it take?
1-3 days: You should have the results within 72 hrs. You certainly have the right to call and ask if you haven't heard by then. Many times it is read the same day. Good luck.
Mri or magnetic resonance imaging is one of the more recently developed imaging modalities available to physicians. It uses powerful magnets to generate images. There is no ionizing radiation which is a major advantage over many other modalities. Mri is the best imaging exam that we have for most soft tissue and joint related problems. There are radiologists ...Read more
Varies: Every testing facility has a different turn around time. The results then get sent to your doctor, and each office has a unique turn around time as well.
Less tha an hour: And probably more like 30 -40 minutes, maybe not even this long. I think it has to do with how new the machine is. Some very new machines have faster acquisition times. The radiologist should be able to provide a more exact answer as to the length of time for this imaging test.
Meet with your doc: Meet with your doctor to go over the results of your mri. Your doctor can help explain the results and answer any questions you may have.
MRI: Varies with the technique, but may take about an hour.
20-40 minutes: An MRI of the head typically takes between 20 and 40 minutes to complete. It depends on exactly what the MRI is looking for and, to some degree, the type of machine used.
Hey, tomorrow I'm having a MRI scan on my head, its to do with my ears! How long does an MRI take?
Brain MRI usually: Takes between 20-45 minutes, and that's for the whole head. If they are limiting the MRI to middle section looking at inner ears and/or sinuses, then closer to the 20-30 minute time frame.
I went in to get an MRI scan on my spine and I was scared. The lady had me try it for about 40 second before I had them take me out. Now I remember I had surgical staples for a cut on my scalp years ago. I never had them taken out should I be worried?
Go to your doctor: As far as your MRI is concerned, it's probably fine. The concerns with MRI are certain metals that can be moved due to the magnetic force. Many metals used into the medical field aren't made of those types of metal. I'm more concerned w/possibility of surgical staples being in place for a year. Maybe they used suture which your body absorbed. I recommend you see your doctor to get this sorted out
I have just had results back from MRI scan and they say I have a bucket handle tear in my right knee how long before I can play football again?
Some time post scope: This is a mechanical problem in the knee, & requires surgery. If a repair is done months. If excised, I have seen kids return in1-2 weeks, quarter backs earlier.See 2 more doctor answers

MRI: I'm not sure what the question is. Are you asking what you need to do to prepare for an MRI? You don't need to do anything in particular. You will need to inform the technologist of any metal devices or objects in your body that might contraindicate the MRI, such as a pacemaker. You will get a thorough questionnaire about this. If you are getting IV contrast they will need to know about kidney fxSee 1 more doctor answer
I have high prolactin levels am female and 17 I am waiting an MRI scan which will take 2-3 weeks will I be okay till then if I have a tumour?
Prolactin: A lot of people have a mildly high prolactin (i.e. Less than 100). If it is a tumor, the size of the tumor is proportional to the prolactin, so if prolactin is less than 100, the tumor is likely small. Prolactin tumors are almost always treated with medications, like cabergoline, and not surgery. Don't worry. You may need to see an endocrinologist.
Hurt my coccyx when I was younger from a fall and I get discomfort from it now. Had a MRI scan and everything came normal what else can do? . thanks
Coccyx MRI: You may have injured one of the small discs between the coccyx bones. These can be very subtle and possibly missed if the study was reviewed by someone without advanced training. If you believe that the reading of your MRI may have missed something, I can provide a second opinion, if you have the MRI on a CD. Send me a Message at HealthTap.
