Tendon in pinky by knuckles severed in a fall yrs ago. Mb b/c it dislocated. Doc said surgery not recom b/c hand wont fist. Now just hangs. Advice?

Don't understand: Difficult to ascertain your question. Avoid abbreviations if possible... Is your pinky extensor ( back of hand) 'slipping' off your knuckle when you grip?If so , see an orthopedic surgeon or hand surgeon.Good luck! ...Read more

Depends: Remember you have multiple tendons attached to your finger(s). So if one tendon is completely severed you will likely loss some motion but unlikely all motion. It's uncommon to severe a finger tendon without an obvious significant trauma, it's more likely that the tendon isn't able to slide appropriately along it's track, like in trigger finger. Depending on your movement problems and location of the lacerations they may be able to reattach some of the tendons to improve your movement.
