Course is 3-5 days.: It of course also depends on the severity of the infection. If one is being given IV Rocephin, (ceftriaxone) the patient probably has more severe infection. One should be feeling better with decreasing fever or improving WBC in 24-48 hours. A typical course is 3 to 5 days but if kidney infection (pyelonephritis) is involved, treatment can be 10-14 days. ...Read more
Can omnicef (cefdinir) work for an uti? If so, how long does it take for it to clear the infection?
It may: Certain antibiotics are more specific for the urinary tract than omnicef, (cefdinir) but it may work if the bacteria causing your UTI is sensitive to it. An urinalysis with reflex c;s would determine what the bacteria is and what antibiotics are sensitive to it. Most commonly, you should start feeling better in a few days. Best wishes. ...Read more
How long does it take to clear up a UTI/To stop seeing symptoms when you are on antibiotics? Just started it todo so still burns to pee a bit.
Varies : Sometimes symptoms resolve in 24 hrs, sometimes can take several days. This is determined by the degree of inflammation in the bladder lining in response to the infection, and by the sensitivity of the bacteria to the antibiotic. If symptoms aren't improving at all within 48-72 hrs, bacteria may be resistant to antibiotic, or there may be another cause for the symptoms. ...Read more

How long after starting bactrim will it take for an uti to clear up? I'm going on day 3 and it still feels like my bladder isn't emptying completely.
Resistant germs: If you are not getting better from these antibiotics, I would worry about the germ being 'resistant'. This is an increasingly common problem these days- for multiple reasons... I would DEFINITELY check back with the doc who ordered the medication-hopefully they did a urinary culture, which would serve as a guide to the best therapy. You should be better by now. I would drink LOTS of water too ...Read more

How long does cloudy urine take to clear up after taking antibiotics for a UTI for 3 days? I've been drinking lots of water and cranberry juice.
Doesn't matter: Cloudy urine usually isn't due to infection but to variations in diet and fluid intake. It may not clear up at all. The important thing is whether UTI symptoms themselves are improving: painful or urgent urination, and so on. If so, the UTI is getting better. If not, contact your doctor. And by the way, cranberry doesn't treat or prevent UTI. Drink it if you like it, otherwise no need. ...Read more
