SKILL?: I assume by skill, you mean are able to eat certain foods and stay well? Certainly, there are known trigger food for ulcers and Acid indigestion/reflux disease, and Coffee and hot tea are on the top of the list. Topical: You can apply either heat or ice to the area. The ice will decrease inflamation, the heat will help the intercostal muscle irratation. Also you can take acetaminophen for pain.
