How long does it take for scabies to go away after permethrin cream?

How long does it take for scabies to go away after permethrin cream?

Depends: Even if all the scabies mites are killed by the premethrin, itching can persist for several weeks. Persistent itching, especially if there are big bumps, sort of like mosquito bites, can be treated with a topical cortisone (steroid) cream. Usually premethrin is applied twice, about a week between applications. It has to be done right, clothes and bedding washed, contacts treated too. ...Read more

I just start useing the cream permethrin for scabies how long will it be before i'm cured and what do they look like when healing?

See below: Scabies is treated with a topical scabicide such as 5% permethrin. It is applied over the entire body from the chin to the toes and left on for 8 to 14 hours before washing off. The treatment is repeated 1 week later. The itching may take over a week to resolve. Skin lesions will gradually fade and resolve. ...Read more

I bought some Nix Cream Rinse with 1% Permethrin. How long do I need to keep it on my skin to treat scabies? Or is it strong enough to kill them?

I bought some Nix Cream Rinse with 1% Permethrin. How long do I need to keep it on my skin to treat scabies? Or is it strong enough to kill them?

Scabies treamtment: the recommended treat for scabies is 5% pernethrin in a cream form for 12hour, The cream rinse would not be enough, also worry about exposure to the solvant . I will not use it, also make sure diagnosis is correct . ...Read more

One treatment option: I am not an obstetrician but i did want to make you aware of one treatment option - acupuncture. It is very helpful for itching & will be safe during pregnancy. There are a few specific acupuncture points that should not be needled during pregnancy but these are not used for itching tx. Congratulations & take care. ...Read more

See a doctor: Scabies can be persistent and can spread. Here is a place to go for good information: http://www.Cdc.Gov/parasites/scabies/gen_info/faq_workplace.Html since you work in a job where you could spread that to other people the right thing to do is to be cleared by a doctor before you work. ...Read more

How often should you use permethrin 5% cream for scabies?

How often should you use permethrin 5% cream for scabies?

Usually once: Scabies is caused by a mite that burrows into the skin and lays eggs. The eggs take a few days to hatch. Generally one application of Permethrin cream kills the mites and eggs but occasionally a second application a week later can be used to kill any mites that hatch from eggs that survive the first treatment. You should not use more than 2 applications. ...Read more

Applied permethrin cream 5% for scabies last night, to every inch of my body. On for 12 hrs. I still woke up with new bites. When will new bites stop?

It can take 3 weeks: Scabies symptoms aren't from "bites", but from the body's allergic reaction to scabies mites and their products (eggs, droppings, etc). Permethrin kills mites immediately, but it takes time for the immune system to clear the dead mites and the junk they left behind. Red bumps and itching can continue up to 3 weeks, and may even get worse for a while. Hang in there, it will clear up with time. ...Read more
