Hemorrhoids: Conservative treatment measures are usually sufficient for most patients with hemorrhoids causing bleeding, itching, irritation, or thrombosis (clot formation). Analgesic creams and topical steroid creams can be used for irritation and pruritus, but not for more than one week. They can result in contact dermatitis or mucosal atrophy, respectively. Your hemorrhoid may require definitive therapy. ...Read more

Can you tell me how long does an external hemorrhoid take to heal?

Hard to say: What some people call an external hemorrhoid is actually a skin tag. When a hemorrhoid (vein in the rectum) becomes distended, it can distend external skin. This sometimes shrinks back down, but sometimes leaves redundant skin that remains. If the external swelling is recent, it should shrink down as much as it is going to within 2-3 months at the most. ...Read more

External hemorrhoid right outside anus, it's not hard & no pain, but bleeds.Been there a long while.Over the counter treatments for it please?

Treat constipation: For hemorrhoids i would use a stool softener to keep stools runnier. Also, it will decompress the bowel and allow the hemorrhoids to start to shrink. I would use any over the counter hemorrhoid medication. They all work reasonably well. Finally, i would use a step stool in the bathroom to keep knees above hips while on the toilet to minimize straining. ...Read more

I think my external hemorrhoid ruptured. It looks black and blood consistently coming out. Looks like open wound. How long before its stops bleeding?

Care of hemorrhoids: I agree about likely rupture. Hemorrhoids are a dilation and swelling of the expandable tissue around the rectal opening. Non operative treatment includes a bowel regimen (fiber, stool softeners, laxatives to goal of 2 soft bowel movements daily) local salves (prep h, desitin, (zinc oxide diaper cream) anti fungals, ) and hygiene (shower, hair dryerdryer daily). Surgery when above fails. Ok to see doc. ...Read more

Not much: Symptomatic external hemorrhoids are large and very painful, occasional bleeding; the pain will be so intense that you may have to see a surgeon or go to the ER. If it doesn't hurt much avoid constipation by eating more fiber and drinking plenty of water, do warm sits bath 3 times a day follow by hemorrhoid cream after each bath and after each BM.
