Might have anal fissure. Added fiber & water. It's made my stool much softer but also wider. Is this ok? Don't wanna retear. Still blood after 5 days.

Its ok.: fiber generally adds bulk to the stool and the fluid softens the stool even more. Fissures sometimes take longer to heal because of the active stretching of the anal skin with BMs. But you need to rule out other sources of bleed by obtain a medical evaluation. ...Read more

Safe: Nifedipine is safe in lactation. Even safer is topical Diltiazem which is a first cousin of nifedipine. Most anal fissures heal in a couple of weeks. If you still have issues after 6 weeks, Botox or surgery is indicated. Meanwhile keep your stool really soft by eating at least 1 cup of fiber one or all bran cereal daily. Good luck. Fiber is simply indigestible fiber that adds bulk to the stool and makes it easier for the intestines to pass it along. You don't: ...Need to add fiber if you get adequate fiber in your diet. The recommendation was made because most people do not ;, for someone that does, adding the supplement wouldn't hurt. This doesn't apply to stool softeners, like colace (docusate sodium).
