How Long Does It Take Epididymitis To Cause Infertility
Here are...: The stated scenario indicated you've been treated for epididymitis; hopefully, indeed, you had or have had it. So, you're advised to collect the features of degree, duration, or interval over time of testicular pain with its detailed sequence of events. &bring those to doc for review, analysis, more hx, physicals, and tests as needed so to deduce a confirmative DX for reasonable rx. Best wish... ...Read more
Variable: Epididymitis is an inflammation of the epididymis (tubules at the junction of the testicle). Inflammation can cause the tubules to block. I believe that the more infections the greater the risk. More than 2-3 infections are probably bad. Still, blocked epididymis is a rather uncommon problem for men. I hope this information helps. Best wishes. ...Read more
Epididymitis: It typically doesn't in the majority of cases. If it were to effect fertility it would do so by scarring and blocking sperm transport through the epididymis, usually long after the inflammation began. Acute epididymitis, properly treated, is unlikely to cause this however. ...Read more
Unlikely: Though epididymitis 'could' result in scarring and blockage of the sperm passageway (and infertility) in the affected testicle, if there is a normal testicle on the other, unaffected side, that testicle will be able to produce enough sperm to maintain fertility in most instances. ...Read more
Can you please tell me the percent of men that become completely infertile following severe bilateral chronic epididymitis? Any reference would help.
Had epididymitis for months and have noticed my semen got a little watery especially in the beginning of the batch. Does this mean I am infertile?
I may have epididymitis from oral sex with sex worker 4 months ago. Was on antibiotics but no relief in pain. Can this go away on its own? Infertile?
Unlikely...: Epididymitis is rarely acquired from oral sex. It could happen due to gonorrhea, but rarely. What are your symptoms? Pain in both testicles is almost never epididymitis, which almost always is one sided, with marked swelling and tenderness. And non-improvement on antibiotics is evidence against infection of any kind. Google "chronic pelvic pain syndrome" and see if it matches your symptoms. ...Read more
How long does it take to not feel ill after epididymitis treatment? Day 2 of ciprofloxacin 500mg 2 x daily.
Here are some...: If the bacteria treated is sensitive to the used antibiotic at its early stage (before abscess formation), the related pain should start to ease in 1-2 days and fade in 5-7 days, but its related hardness may linger for weeks and even last forever. To learn more on some uncertainty and variety in response to treatment, seek evaluation and counseling. Best wish to health & recovery. ...Read more

How long does it take to fully recover from epididymitis ? Using cipro (ciprofloxacin) for 3 weeks but I have still some hardness and ache, is it normal ?
Yes: Recovery from epididymitis largely depends on the severity, cause, and acuteness of the inflammation or infection but 2-4 weeks not uncommon with the various acute causes whereby the pain and tenderness usually resolve before the swelling/enlargement of the epididymis returns completely back to normal which can take up to 6 weeks or longer. 2-3 weeks of antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory med used. ...Read more
How long does epididymitis take to go away ?
May it be back again ?
May I have sex when I have it ?
Will vary.: The treatment of epididymitis depends on the cause. In younger men, it is usually due to gonorrhea or chlamydia, which are sexually transmitted infections. Treatment depends on the antibiotic, and can last up to 10 days. The symptoms, however, may persist for weeks despite adequate treatment. I would not resume sex until you and your partner are evaluated & treated. ...Read more

Here are some ...: Holding ejaculation can be reached to a degree but at the end emission / ejaculation is a inevitable uninhibited process; semen itself would not cause epididymitis, but infected urine / STD-urethritis will make its way to epididymis to cause epididymitis. So, make sure of treating infection if any and don't worry about holding ejaculation. ...Read more
I have balanitis(unknown cause) possible epididymitis and prostatitis. Can the cause of all these things be related to each other?
Can a past history of epididymitis cause erectal dysfunction ? The cause of the epididymitis was straining to lift a heavy object 40 years ago.
No relation: Epididymitis will not cause erectile dysfunction, certainly not 40 years later. You're at an age when ED becomes quite common, usually with no particular cause known. (It doesn't matter now, but 40 years ago it was thought physical strain could cause epididymitis. We now know that doesn't happen. It is much more likely you had an infection, e.g. chlamydia.) ...Read more
