If you take toprol (metoprolol) and cozaar and don't really need it and you suddenly stop taking it will your BP or pulse increase?
I am taking cozaar, (losartan) atenlol and catapres for hypertension and my BP is still not controlled. Is there something else i can take?
No additional risk: You are on a lot of medication and they seem important - but do review them w/ your Dr(s) and always do when a new one is added. The melatonin adds no risk to the mix but some there already can cause moderate issues that ought not stop you but should be watched. Best wishes! ...Read more

After two days since I take Cozaar (losartan) for hypertension I felt depressed, can this be related?
My magnesium is 1.6. Dr. Prescribed 400mg magnesium oxide. Will this push it to a dangerously high level? I also take 37.5mg cozaar (losartan). Will bp go low?
Magnesium pills: Unless you have chronic kidney disease, your magnesium (M) will not elevate to dangerously high levels with the amount of M you are taking. You M level has no effect on the BP lowering effects of cozaar (losartan) (C). If you have a low M, discuss with your physician (P) what the reason your M is low. You can also replace you M with foods, salmon and cashew nuts rather than taking M supplements. ...Read more
No,why would you?: Cozaar (losartan) is an arb class of blood pressure lowering medication, appropriate for those w/high blood pressure or hypertension. Midodrine is an Alpha receptor agonist used to treat patients w/orthostatic hypotension, whose blood pressure falls when they change positions. I can't imagine too many patients w/htn who are orthostatic w/treatment where you'd add another med rather than give fluids, etc. ...Read more
Supposing someone has high blood pressure, can they take cozaar (losartan) and midodrine together?
I use to take toprol (metoprolol) and cozaar now i can't even take 12.5 of the toprol (metoprolol) and my BP is too low (87/53) and dizzy w/ chest pain why the change?
Get attention: New chest pain & such low BP both need medical attention. Can't take Cozaar (losartan) at this bp. Can't tell in your case, but possible causes of new sensitivity to BP meds include dehydration, addition of diuretic, major weight loss. But if the low BP is related to the new chest pain, which could be from a blood flow problem or other cardiac condition, that really would need attention asap. ...Read more

I am on betapace (sotalol) for a - tachycardia. Not very good at keeping BP controlled or spike in BP from anxiety. Switch b-blocker? I also take cozaar
Work on anxiety: Betapace=sotalol is used for arrythmias insead of BP. I suggest Cognitive Behavioral Therapy along with with mindfulness training for the anxiety. There are beta blockers that are more effective for BP and can help with atrial tachycardia, but ultimately you should have this discussion with your cardiologist. Cozaar (losartan) max dose is 100mg daily, so this could be adjusted if you are on lower dose. ...Read more

CBT psychotherapy: Try CBT. The C will help your thinking and understanding - the B means guided Behavioral practice and it is critical. The T means therapy. After a course of treatment, your therapist might think that you've advanced enough to try it on your own and just return for boosters if needed. These are real skills to acquire. Try it for real. It may lower your need for meds. ...Read more
On cozaar (losartan) 1 wk. Find i can no longer exercise or vacuum house without heart pounding and feeling weak. Side effect? Will it diminish?
Unjsual: That's an unusual side effect to be certain. I'd give it more time. May wish to try taking at bedtime and see if that solves the problem. If no better in 2 weeks after making that change then time to talk with your pcp again. ...Read more
My BP gets to about 95/56 at rest which makes me dizzy the doctor cut my 25mg cozaar in half but no change i also take toprol (metoprolol) what else can we try?
Yes: Aside from being used for high blood pressure, the uses are often highly specific and technical (apologies in advance) - here is just a partial list of health conditions for which children are sometimes treated with Cozaar: aortic-root dilation with Marfan’s syndrome, and Alport syndrome-like hereditary nephritis. There are others as well. ...Read more
Midodrine use: Midodrine (m) is used to treat low blood pressure. It works by stimulating nerve endings in blood vessels, causing the blood vessels to tighten. As a result, blood pressure is increased. It would be unusual to have both m and Cozaar (losartan) (c) used together, as c treats hypertension. Ask the physician (p) who treating the patient what the p is thinking if both m and c are being used together. ...Read more
