How Long Does It Take A Goose Egg To Go Away
A few days: A hematoma, or "goose egg" is a swollen bruise under the skin following an injury. It can occur anywhere on the body but is often noticed on the scalp. If the lesion lasts longer than a couple of weeks, see your doctor to make sure it isn't something more serious.
My 3yr old fell a week ago had a goose egg knot on his head it went down a little but the knot is still there should I take him in?
Goose egg: As long s your child is cting normal there is no need to tke him to the doctor. Apply cold compresses and the goose rgg wiil receed over time.
How long after my seven year old daughter hit her head hard enough to cause a goose egg can she go to sleep?
Depends on variables: Did she pass out or express confusion after the injury? Has she started vomiting repeatedly? If either I would have her seen. If neither, let her sleep on her normal schedule. Do not wake her but check her every few hours for change of status. Kids awaken to vomit and complain of headache if problems occur.See 1 more doctor answer
My 16 month old son fell off the arm of our sofa and he has a small goose egg on his forehead, how long should I wait till I put him to bed?
Acts fine after 1hr?: If a child is acting differently, even after a mild injury, she should be seen by her primary doctor. Sometimes an E.R. Visit is needed, depending on the symptoms. Head bumps in which there is low-impact on the head, little crying, no changes in behavior and no headache after the first hour, etc..., usually don't cause internal injuries even if there is a goose egg, so getting some sleep is fine.
I have a goose egg looking thing on my foot. I fell on it a couple days ago. There isn't really any pain unless you touch it. What is it?
Hematoma: You may have developed a hematoma (fluid filled cyst) see a podiatrist for treatment.See 1 more doctor answer
Possibly: The kid who is not knocked out or disoriented & confused @ the time of the injury is probably fine. I try to keep them on their normal nap/sleep schedule and visit them with a flashlight while sleeping to check. If sleeping well, leave him alone. Kids will start barfing if problem is coming. Confusion or repeated episodes of vomiting in the hours after trauma deserve a look over by the dr.
Bumped my head today big goose egg, accessed myself with a GCS score of 13-15, what are the chances of dying from this bumped head?
Depends: Depends on where you hit your head, how, and on what surface. You should have it evaluated by a doc.
No: A simple goose egg will not cause any permanent affect.
What's a goose egg?: I love how people describe things!, so my guess is that you're "goose egg" is likely a collection of old blood from a blow/injury to skin which lies just above a bone. The "goose eye" is defined by the underlying tissue and how it encapsulated the blood. Location is rarely important. Either "tincture of time"... Alot of time... Or drainage with a needle or small incision is necessary.
I have a bump a large soft bump on my head that came out of nowhere. It doesn't hurt. Looks like big goose egg. Should I be concerned?
Should? Concern?: Ince it doesn't hurt, I guess there may not be an emergency, but w/o panic or anxiety, you might be wise to have it examined. It can't hurt and just in case it's a 1st sign of more, nip it in the bud!
My 2 year old fell and bumped the back of his head and has a goose egg it's been 3 hrs and he is his old self should I be worried. He is in bed now.?
Could be a cyst: An underground growth with a central pimple sounds like a cyst. It's not dangerous but if you want it removed, you should see your doctor.
My 13 month old bumped his head today trying to walk. He is 30 inches tall and got a little goose egg. Is there anything to worry about?
Likely not but: It depends on where the bump is and whether he had any other signs of concern for a closed head injury with possible brain injury (too much to talk about here). If the bump is on the front/forehead - no worries. If over the temple area - more possible concern. Talk to your doctor.See 2 more doctor answers
Any way to make my nose back to its normal size I crashed into a pole and got a goose egg the goose egg swelled down but my nose got fatter
If: If your nose looks different despite improvement of your swelling you may have a nasal fracture. This may need to be fixed with surgical fracture reduction (if the injury was within the last 10 days or so) to reset the bones in the proper position. More formal reconstructive rhinoplasty may be needed if the bones have already set in place, though. You can visit with a facial plastic surgeon or otolaryngologist (ENT) to have your nose checked out to see what treatment you may need.See 2 more doctor answers
In 1980's I got a goose egg head bump and my mom pushed it back in w a spoon. What did this do? I would never do this but always wondered why she did
Spread it out: Better out than in, maybe spread fluid out, not needed, not recommended because can worsen bruise or if indented fracture can worsen, use ice pack instead let body handle it
Huge goose egg on my 1 year olds forehead from a bite. What can I do to make the swelling go down?
I have a knot on the front of my head at my hairline-looks like a goose egg-my wife noticed it last Sunday but I don't remember hitting it-no pain?
See Dr: Lipoma? Tricholemmal cyst? Various other possible things which can be defined only by exam and maybe biopsy or other tests.
