MONTHS: The "shelf life" of Humira (adalimumab) is usually at least one year or longer. The best way to check is look on the container. There is an expiration date past which the medication loses its efficacy. As long as you have not passed this date the medication is effective and can stay in the frig.

I have a small supply of humira (adalimumab) which is slightly out of date. I don't have a good means of obtaining more right now. Would it be harmful to use it?

Avoid expired meds: Expiry date means that these drugs are tested for that much time and was considered to hold the same efficacy as the tablets on the first day of manufacturing. So expired medicines means there is no guarantees of any sort. So they are better to be avoided..

Taking Humira (adalimumab) (40) for SA and getting good results but pain returns 6-7 days before next shot. Any suggestions? +I'm on pain meds but really want off.

Mgt: This sometimes can occur prior to the dose, but I would recommend treating the pain with a heating pad and pain medication. Shortening the interval may increase the adverse reactions. Other possible changes to your regimen can include lowering the dose but giving the medication on a shorter interval. It is important to be tested for TB while taking the medication.

On humira (adalimumab) for the last 4 months. I have hidradenitis supprativa and it has not improved, it's worse. How long does it take to work? Should I stop it?

Now: You should have seen an effect by now and it should not be getting worse. A concurrent infection should be ruled out since worsening in setting of immunosuppresive therapy.

Is there a waiting period between changing from enbrel (etanercept) to humira? If so, how long? Then how long before humira begins to work?

Is there a waiting period between changing from enbrel (etanercept) to humira? If so, how long? Then how long before humira begins to work?

One week: I would start Humira one week after your last Enbrel (etanercept) injection. There is no hard and fast rule. I have seen Humira work as quickly as within two weeks and as long as three months. These medications should be given for at least three months before switching. Good luck.

No: We don't have a good way yet to identify who will respond. You have sero-positive RA. Your chances o fresponding are still very good - so stick with it and discuss this with your rheumatologist.

How long do I need to be off humira (adalimumab) both before and after a shingles vaccination?

Unknown: I don't believe there is any concrete answer to this question, yet. It is not recommended to be used together. Humira has a half-life of up to 20 days. Meaning after getting a dose, there is still half of it in your system after 20 days. Probably 2-3 months before the vaccine would be ok and retart after 4 weeks would be reasonable. Check with your docs...

Is humira safe for me to go on? I am worried about getting infections and maybe cancer. And about the long term side effects?

Do you NEED it?: All decisions to take medication, even an aspirin, weigh risks and benefits. Apart from hormone replacements and nutritional supplements, the only medicines that do not have significant side effects are the placebo treatments of charlatans. Adalimumab has enabled people crippled by arthritis, psoriasis, colitis and so forth to live normal lives. Infections recognized early can be managed.

On humira q 14 days x 8 months ra. It is losing effectiveness. Adding plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) 200mg bid. Is this a good approach? When will I begin to feel better?

Good idea: Yes, addition of Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) makes sense but the Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) may take 1-2 months to kick in. There may some factors (weather, stress) that are making your RA worse instead of the Humira failing.

I was on humira (adalimumab) biweekly for psoriais and psoriatic arthritis. Now I'm on weekly because psoriasis came back. Is weekly good idea & what r side effect?

Some people!: Some people who are larger, or have more severe inflammation may need more, and a weekly dose is not rare in these instances. Twice weekly, sounds like too much! Dr. Litt said this; perhaps you used the wrong term!?
