How Long Does Fever Associated With Syphilis Last
Gave oral sex on Sept 2nd , got a sore throat sept 5, could this be syphilis?Doesn't hurt bad, no sores anywhere, no rash, no fever. Neg for strep
Not syphilis: Syphilis symptoms (the sore called a chancre) never start sooner than about 10 days, and sore throat is not a symptom of syphilis. Probably you caught a cold, unrelated to the oral sex. However, other STDs are possible, especially gonorrhea. "Neg for strep" suggest you saw a doctor for testing. If you didn't have throat culture for gonorrhea, discuss with your doctor. ...Read more
See below: Syphilitic disease of the spine, similar to bone and joint syphilis elsewhere in the body, may be encountered following either the congenital or acquired forms of infection. It may manifest itself, first, as an arthralgia or backache; second, as a necrosis of the vertebrœ, and, third, as a; charcot spine accompanied by cerebro-spinal degeneration. It may be a life long issue. ...Read more
Probably not at all: Drying kills syphilis bacteria (and probably all other STDs), and nobody has been reported to have caught syphilis through sex toys -- only by direct sexual exposure. Depends on form: The preferred treatment for newly acquired (primary)syphillis is a single dose of penicillin g with avoidance of sexual activity until any primary leasons are healed. Followup blood tests at 6 & 12 months are recomended to verify the success of initial treatment or recurrance. Weekly pcn x3 is recomended for latent disease. Since other std's often co-exist variations in rx are often needed. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
How long will 2.4 bpg protect from syphilis if re-exposed...I have read from other doc and medical textbook 3-4 weeks?
Asking: that question is like asking if my Parachute will open a second time if I jump again without packing it! The way to protect against syphilis is to use prevention and COMMON SENSE about your Partner(s) My opinion only BTW Syphilis is a REPORTABLE disease and patients should be treated until clear before they have sexual contact again! ...Read more
Are syphilis chancres always filled with pus? What does the pus look like? What are other symptoms of syphilis? How long is it before a chancre shows?
SOMETHING: Sounds like something's wrong. It would help if an expert has a chance to look at the lesion and identify it. Going to the dr wont be anonymous but better than worrying about it. Maybe the dr will even provide advice that might help now and in the future. Try it. Of xourse, this may just be an academic question - you could google it. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
