Whats Ur gut tell U: There are a variety of rash producing viruses that have little importance to the real scheme of things & most can be managed at home. If the kid is playful for most of his/her day, feeding & wetting diapers as usual, i see little need for an office visit. Fifths : Fifths disease is a common, relatively harmless viral infection - most often seen in kids and characterized by red cheeks followed by a lacy rash on the arms, legs and body. Some people will also have fever for a day or two. It typically resolves on its own without treatment. The only time we really worry about this virus is if it infects someone who is pregnant or someone with a chronic blood disease such as sickle cell anemia, thalessemia, or spherocytosis. The virus can stop the bone marrow from producing red blood cells for a short period of time.
