How Long Does Enlarged Lymph Nodes Associated With Strep Throat Last
Had enlarged lymph nodes, left base of neck. PET + for cancer. Nodes now shrunken. Can no longer feel them. Could white cells have eliminated cancer?
Not likely: White cells don't eliminate cancer despite all the "pop" claims. Spontaneous regressions of cancer from immunity are rare and it almost always recurs afterwards. A PET scan cannot diagnose cancer without a biopsy, and is at most a means of finding lesions that need to be biopsied for possible cancer. Adults have neck nodes pop up and regress all the time. Be glad and talk with your physician.
I have a thyroid cyst, 10 enlarged lymph nodes in neck & 8 in groin, lung scarring, high k, low na, lower wbc, hypotension & a long list of symptoms?
Internist: You're not going to get a diagnosis in an on-line forum. You obviously have a complicated problem that will require a comprehensive evaluation. If your local doctor can't help, seek help at an academic center with a general internist. You're only 113 miles from des moines. Ps, hi k and low na with low BP suggests addison's disease.

Second opinion: Not sure without the benefit of examining you. Enlarged lymph nodes throughout the body coil indicate a problem. If you are concerned I would encourage you to obtain a second opinion.

Lymph nodes can: Be an annoyance or a sign of real disease. If it does not bother you with pain or obstruction or such, just watch it hopefully start getting smaller over the next few weeks. If it does not, or if it continues to enlarge or become tender/hot/ swollen, then you should get to a healthcare provider as soon as possible to get help. Thanks for trusting in HealthTap.

Yes.: Bacterial infections, including strep can cause enlarged lymph nodes that are near the site of infection. If that is the cause, if the infection is successfully treated the nodes should shrink back down. Persistently enlarged nodes, or nodes that continue to enlarge need evaluation.See 1 more doctor answer

Monitoring Centers: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells/digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph everywhere for bad stuff like bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts. They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react. They shrink when all is well.See 1 more doctor answer
May be: It may or may not. The procedure of choice is ultrasound by an eperienced sonographer. Xr is not a great exam for lymph nodes. Even better: have it examined by a doc. Usually this is palpable on physical examination and most examinations are not helpful.
