After accidentally swallowing a cherry pit, how long does cyanide from a cherry pit stay in your system?

Exposure unlikely: If swallowed accidentally & not chewed, it will likely pass through your system mostly undigested within 3-4 days. The coatings of the pit are protective and a single intact pit would not transfer enough cyanide to cause harm. The body would remove any trace chemical over time. If you chew them up. It would be potentially deadly. ...Read more

The pits: Symptoms of mild poisoning include headache, dizziness, confusion, anxiety, and vomiting. Larger doses can lead to difficulty breathing, increased blood pressure and heart rate, and kidney failure. Reactions can include coma, convulsions, and death from respiratory arrest. There are several treatment options, but the main thing is to limit the absorption of the chemicals from the seeds. Basically, ...Read more

I just swallowed a cherry pit. Should I do anything about it? How long will it stay in my body?

I just swallowed a cherry pit. Should I do anything about it? How long will it stay in my body?

You should be fine: There is a lot of room for things to pass through our digestive tract, including cherry pits. Once it gets through your esophagus (that takes only a few minutes) it should pas through without noticing it. Well, maybe you will notice it in your stool. From mouth to toilet depends on how fast your digestion is but usually 8-24 hours is about right. ...Read more

Can cyanocobalamin be lethal or harmful to the human body if it cannot process the cyanide component? If yes, should one avoid cyanocobalamin?

Can cyanocobalamin be lethal or harmful to the human body if it cannot process the cyanide component? If yes, should one avoid cyanocobalamin?

No worries: Cyanocobalamin has trace amounts of cyanide; the usual dose is 1 mg (one thousandth of a gram) or less; only some of that is the cyanide, which is readily detoxed by several mechanisms so everyone can likely clear it. There is cyanide in almonds, bamboo shoots, cassava and other foods.
I advise taking methylcobalamin, the active form we convert the cyano form to, as some have trouble converting it. ...Read more

How long do you bleed for when ur Cherry's popped? I have been bleeding for a couple hours on an off but heavy

How long do you bleed for when ur Cherry's popped? I have been bleeding for a couple hours on an off but heavy

Not long and not: Not heavy. Not all women bleed the first time they have vaginal sex, but if the hymen is torn, this can result in a small amount of bleeding. If the bleeding is more than a few drops such as heavy bleeding or lasts more than a few days then there could have been a deeper injury. Bleeding like a heavy period should be evaluated by a doctor preferably by your gyn. ...Read more

Reaction to fruit?: Food intolerance is common, variable, and individual and may even include such innocuous ingestants as water. Reference: elaine shimberg, "relief from ibs". How long should you bleed after you popped your cherry? It's been 3days, is it normal or should I be worried?

How long should you bleed after you popped your cherry? It's been 3days, is it normal or should I be worried?

Varies: Many women notice no bleeding after their first intercourse. Of those who bleed, the amount of bleeding varies. Worry if the bleeding is heavy requiring you to wear a pad and change it more frequently than you do with your period, if there is alot of pain, or if the bleeding does not gradually decrease and then stop. Otherwise, this is probably normal. Hope this helps. ...Read more

Made a cherry smoothie, pitted the cherries but while drinking it noticed some broken pieces of a cherry pit (likely missed 1) dumped it. Will I be ok?

No problem: People swallow cherry pits (by accident) all the time without problems. I'm guessing you've heard cherry pits contain amygdalin, a substance that is broken down into cyanide. Apple seeds, almonds and apricot pits also have amygdalin. You'd probably need to eat 100 or more ground cherry pits to get a toxic dose. Some believe that small amounts of amygdalin prevent cancer. Next time don't dump it! ...Read more

My toddler swallowed a cherry pit. Should I be worried? I read that the pit could be toxic? Very worried.

Fruit seeds: If you accidentally eat a cherry pit in a pie or swallow an apple seed or two, you'll be fine. If you eat enough apple seeds or cherry pits, you could die. Cherry pits, and seeds from related fruits, including peaches, plums, almonds, pears, and apricots, contain cyanogenic glycosides. Your body can detoxify small quantities of cyanide compounds. Keep pits away from toddlers as they can also choke ...Read more

Why do I keep getting cherry angiomas I'm young and every time I look at my body there is more. Is there reason and is there a way to stop them?

Not really: How young are you? Are you under a lot of stress? The only reason scientifically speaking is that you inherited the tendency to have them from your parents. For the most part they are harmless. My Chinese upbringing taught me to believe that it is a sign of blessing from each time a person do a good deed! I would be proud to have many of them! Otherwise consult a cosmetic surgeon to remove them ...Read more

Nothing: These will probably pass through. But they can become lodged in the intestines. These are not digestible and we are not ruminants like cows! This is a bad habit that she should stop as it could lead to intestinal blockage. ...Read more

Is it dangerous to eat cherry pits? The reason I ask is because I put several cherries in the NutriBullet to make a fruit drink.

Don't eat cherry pit: Cherry pits contain cyanide compounds, which are poisonous. If one swallows a cherry seed by accident, it's no big deal because the seed stays intact and should pass right through. Grinding up the seeds however and then consuming them could lead to toxic effects. Cyanide works pretty quickly to cause severe symptoms which can include death. Hope you didn't grind up too much of those cherry pits. ...Read more

I did several tests that ruled out kidney, liver&other issues. But I sometimes have pitting edema (not always) but esp when I stand for long&stress. Why?

Venous insufficiency: Most people will get some swelling of the feet on prolonged standing. If the venous return is less than optimal, more water will accumulate in the dependent parts. Try reducing your salt intake to see if that helps.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.
Practice safe sex. ...Read more

2 years agoa day after right mastectomy I felt non pitting edema 3-4 inches below the surgery incision. It is progressive and all over the body. Why?

Need clarification: Not sure if your mastectomy 2 years ago was followed by edema a day after surgery and has progressed now 2 years later to all over your body? Is this correct? The 2 may not be related, but requires a visual examination and history to see what it is all about. ...Read more
