I'm a vegetarian and I go to the gym. Plan on going on an all egg diet for protein and less fat, is that okay? (ldl vs hdl, food vs blood cholesterol)

Not okay!: An all egg diet for less fat makes no sense at all! Eggs are the highest source of cholesterol of any food. While eating up to 3 eggs a day doesn't raise cholesterol, an all egg diet is likely to be unhealthy & unbalanced. It's ok to use eggs as your main source of protein but i'd eat lots of veggies & some fruits-otherwise you'll become deficient in crucial phytonutrients. Eat foods of all colors! ...Read more

My doctor did a blood test, and told me that my cholesterol is high, and gave me 10 ml of lipitor, (atorvastatin)what foods can I eat to lower it down.

May not be problem!: First, whether you even need to lower your cholesterol depends on the subtypes. If you have high HDL and your LDL is below 130 you may not need to lower it at all. Statins like Lipitor (atorvastatin) can be hazardous and have no proven benefit for women!
Many foods can lower cholesterol- reducing sugars and starches while adding avocado, beans, garlic, almonds, walnuts, oats and wild salmon help. See comment: ...Read more

Can exercise really help to lower blood cholesterol levels?

Yes & no: Nutrition is main variable when it comes to cholesterol. That, genes & statin medications. Weight loss can help lower total cholesterol in general. I have blood cholesterol 5.7 mmol/l. Do I need to take medicine. Please advise?

Probably not but...: This is only a mild elevation and I would not treat it unless you have an unusually high percentage of small dense LDL particles. The role of cholesterol in heart disease is over-exagerated. The real cause of heart disease is inflammation. See http://www. Sott. I tested my blood a month ago and my cholesterol was at 280.. Is that bad and what should I do about it.

Depends on Particles: Both labs and risk factors are important in knowing cardiovascular (cvd) risk. More than cholesterol, cvd is related to the number of LDL (ldl-p) and HDL particles (hdl-p). Because cholesterol in LDL and HDL particles is highly variable cholesterol levels often disagree with particle number. When cholesterol and particle number disagree cvd risk tracks with ldl-p and hdl-p, not ldl-c or hdl-c. ...Read more
