I recently had the stomach flu and had blood in stool. Went to ER said it will go away. I still see spots of blood in stool. Its been 7 days. Normal?

Not normal: It is never normal to have blood in your stools. That said, it doesn't mean it has to be due to something serious as hemorrhoids are both common & a common cause of blood in stool. Blood in stool after drinking last night?

Blood in stool: Blood in stool is abnormal and must be explained. If it's a tiny amount of bright red blood not mixed with stool, most likely hemorrhoids or an anal fissure caused it. If there is much blood mixed with stool more serious possibilities include diverticulosis, inflammatory bowel disease or a growth in the colon. For persistent, heavy bleeding evaluation in the hospital emergency room is needed. ...Read more
