Can flagyl and/or ciprofloxacin in combination with alcohol cause a higher breathalyzer reading and/or cause alcohol to remain in your system longer?

Why do you ask?: Your doctor must have told you not to drink while you're taking flagyl. It's quite dangerous. And while you're on "Cipro", both alcohol and caffeine are best avoided. They won't actually raise the level. If you failed a breathalyzer, you need both a good lawyer and an eagerness to make sure that nothing like this ever happens again. Best wishes. ...Read more

Is it possible for alcohol to be detected through a breathalyzer after 29 hours?

Is it possible for alcohol to be detected through a breathalyzer after 29 hours?

Possibly but only: If a person was virtually alcohol poisoned, and had a lousy liver in addition. Alcohol is metabolized at levels of about 10 mg/% per hour, so a very drunk naive drinker might be at 250 mg% when they pass out, it could take 25+ hours to metabolize it all. However, naive drinkers usually pass out below 200 mg%, and experienced drinkers metabolize alcohol faster, so it's an unlikely event. ...Read more
