Like how long does a tetanus shot for 11 year old kids last?

Like how long does a tetanus shot for 11 year old kids last?

Depends: The best answer is it depends on lifestyle. For the average person at 11, the coverage should be effective for 10 years if the child completed the primary series earlier. If the kid likes to play football, walk in muddy streams, camps, hunts, works in the dirt a lot, i'd only count on 5 years before getting another booster.

If you get an anti tetanus shot how long does it last? I mean how long before you have to take another one?

If you get an anti tetanus shot how long does it last? I mean how long before you have to take another one?

Tetanus Shot: A series of shots are given during childhood, but thereafter a booster shot is needed every 10 years, but as a practical matter, when I see people in the urgent care center with wounds or punctures, I recommend a booster if they cannot remember when they last had a booster. Better to be safe than sorry.

How long does one shot of tetanus toxoid last?

How long does one shot of tetanus toxoid last?

If > 10 yrs U need 1: Tetanus protection from the primary or booster series will begin to decline over time. If it has been > 10 years since your last tetanus booster, you should consider one at your convenience. If you are not protected a booster within 24hrs of a potential tetanus exposure will be necessary. Today we recommend the tdap which boosts your coverage against tetanus, pertussis and diphtheria.

Had tetanus shot on Sunday. Now have pain everywhere and tight chest. Is this a serious reaction. How long will it last.

Call your doctor now: This isn't a normal response to be lasting 72 hours. Call your doctor, and go in for an ad on/ walk in appt. Now. If you have shortness of breadth with it, go to the ER instead.

Cut thumb with razor blade. Clean cut. Got 2 stitches. Thumb hurts bad. Very sore. How long will pain last. Bout inch cut. Got tetanus shot also.

Hard to say: The digits are supplied with a higher number of nerve endings per square inch than most of the body. After this kind of injury the nerve endings will let you know they are not happy by causing pain. It may pesist with pain and hypersensitivity for weeks if not longer. After the wound is visably healed in 5-6 weeks, the site may still have odd hypersensitity to touch.

Hi! If I got a tetanus shot last 8 years ago and cut myself last Friday but it has healed well, should I get a tetanus booster?

Hi! If I got a tetanus shot last 8 years ago and cut myself last Friday but it has healed well, should I get a tetanus booster?

Maybe: You should be protected from your past booster (10 yrs) unless the wound was contaminated or care delayed. Since you are at the end of the useful span of protection, a booster now or at your convenience might be a good idea.

I had a tetanus shot last Saturday and there is still a good size bump where the shot was. Is this normal after 5 days?? Thanks!

I had a tetanus shot last Saturday and there is still a good size bump where the shot was. Is this normal after 5 days?? Thanks!

Considered normal: Yes, it is quite common for there to be a residual knot after getting vaccinations. It will resolve over time (can take up to weeks to completely go away). You can help it along with gentle massage/rubbing, and warm compresses.

Does my son need a another tetanus shot if he stepped on a rusty nail he had a tetanus shot last 2 1/2 years ago my son is 6 years old and stepped on a rusty nail.

Tetanus good 5 years: He does not need another tetanus. The vaccine is good for 5 years and often is boosted between 6 and 10 years with large dirty wounds.

Scratched leg on slightly rusty bench. Didn't bleed but scratched/broke skin. Do I need a tetanus shot? Last vaccine was at 15yo. Rubbed alcohol on it

Maybe.......: Having had a tetanus shot 5 years ago, you should be protected. As the nail was rusty, this is considered aa tetanus-prone wound and you should discuss the possible need for a booster with your MD.

How long tetanus shot is good for?

5-10 yrs: The tetanus shot we are use to is generally considered effective for older kids & adults for no less that 5 years in most situations and 10 for some. Infants with immature immune systems start a 6-8wks & are boosted every 2mo for 3 doses then at 12-15 mo for primary protection. Those whose activities (play or work) involve repeated incidental wounds may benefit from a booster after 5 yrs.

How long do you think is a tetanus shot good for?

Depends: If the person has completed their primary tetanus series and boosters, the shot is good for 10 years. Some who work around gardening and other outdoor activities with high risk of tetanus exposure choose to get boosters after 5 years, but they are in the minority.

Tetanus shot how long after puncture can one wait?

Tetanus shot how long after puncture can one wait?

Not long.: Tetanus vaccines prevent "lockjaw", a disease of horrible muscle spasms that is generally fatal. If you have already been properly vaccinated within the last 10 years, then you are probably protected unless the puncture wound is profoundly contaminated--prompting a need for a booster vaccine in 5 years. The symptoms of tetanus can occur as quickly as 3 days, although the average is 8 days.

Can you tell me how long it should hurt after a tetanus shot?

Can you tell me how long it should hurt after a tetanus shot?

FewMinutesTo2to3days: Most of the time Tetanus shot given as DT or Tdap as combination shot with Diptheria and Pertussis only causes pain or discomfort at the time of injection. But some times you can get a reaction to the shot with little swelling at the site of injection and hurt may last 2to3 days In children it is always given as DPT and also given with 2or3 other shots and hurt may be due to multiple shots 2to3days

How long do I have to get a tetanus shot after I get a wound?

How long do I have to get a tetanus shot after I get a wound?

Depends: If you completed the primary series in childhood & have had one within five years you can probably just wash out a simple wound & not worry. If you have never had the series & have a dirty wound u could see the tetanus begin to set up over a day or so, so a shot & anti-toxin might be needed within hours. If u fall in the middle, get it done within 48hrs, but do a good job of cleaning the wound 1st.
