Not antifungal: Mupirocin, keflex and septra (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) aren't antifungals, those are antibiotics, topical and systemic. Miconazole cream though is the antifungal, it's OTC, needs at least 2 weeks of application, but you ultimately want to see your doctor, it might not be ring worm to start with, also if you have a pet at home, it needs to be taken care of, wish you all wellness. ...Read more

Went to dr thru. For a UTI and they gave me septra (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim).. I take it every 12 hours.. And it stil hurts when i pee.. How long should this med. Take to work?

Depends: Septra (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) is a pretty good abx for uti, but sometimes there are causes to which septra (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) does not work due to resistance. Other times the bladder wall can be irritated from the infection causing pain. But if you continue to have burning sensation with septra (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim), i would advise further f/u care and perhaps a urine culture to determine whether or not there is resistance. ...Read more

I just got over an UTI last week.. Or stoped taking septra (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) as recommended.. Now im on my period. Could tht bring bk infection? Im cramping alittle bad

UTI: Menses are unlikely to cause recurrence of uti. If you are having frequency, urgency, pain on urination, tenderness over the bladder area, blood in urine or anything else, go back and see the doctor who prescribed the septra (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim). Suspect, however, that these may simply be menstrual cramps. Hope you feel better soon. ...Read more
