RCT Pain: In the vast majority of cases there is no pain during root canal therapy as you will be given a local anesthetic to completely numb the area. Most of my patients experience little or no discomfort following rct although occasionally there is mild to moderate discomfort, especially to biting pressure, for a day or two at most and is easily handled with mild to moderate otc pain medication. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
About how long can it take for a gum boil to fully heal after an endodontist completed a root canal?
Depends: During root canal treatment, the dentist needs enough time to open the tooth, enter the pulp chamber and root canals, clean the debris out of these areas, enlarge, sterilize and fill the root canals. This may take from 1-3 hours and from 1-3 visits (if there are no complications). ...Read moreSee 5 more doctor answers

Varies: The quality of work provided is often directly related to the amount of time that is spent. Most teeth are much more complex than can be appreciated via an xray image. I prefer to spend 2 visits on most treatments in order to ensure the pain is relieved prior to completion. Most the teeth I have to redo were done in an hour and in a single visit. Fast is rarely better when it comes to rct. ...Read moreSee 4 more doctor answers

The results are dependent on the cleaning and shaping of the canals not on the speed of the dentist. Root canals, especially the molars can take quite some time. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Can i take amoxicillan with half a root canal. how long will the antibiodic stay in my system once finished?
Amoxicillin: I am not sure what Half a root canal is? If you have an infected tooth that required antibiotic coverage, the entire root canal needs to be cleaned out to remove the source of the infection. Otherwise an antibiotic, like Amoxicillin, would only relieve possible swelling, but would not cure the infection. Only a completely done root canal would address the removal of the cause.. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
I might be getting a root canal so I have a few questions. Does a root canal hurt and does it make the tooth fall/break?How long does it take? Thanks:)
Depends: Often, a front tooth single canal is performed in about 1 hour or less & a premolar or molar will take longer, because they have more canals(2, 3 or more) in these teeth to seal. Usually a root canal gets you "out of pain" but you may have some discomfort. Yes, root canal treated teeth are more brittle than non-treated teeth, so you may need a crown & will need to be careful eating on that tooth. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Not very long: If your crown is in good shape then it takes only a very short amount of time for your dentist to clean out the crown and recement it. Your dentist will evaluate the crown and make certain that there are no problems with it before cementing it. If there is decay in the tooth or the tooth is broken then you may need a new crown. You dentist will let you know. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
