How Long Does A Hiv Test Result Take
Depends on type: An HIV test can be done instantly in the doctor's office (results are not as reliable), or it can be done in a regular lab. Usually not more than 2-3 days. However, many labs "batch" test -- meaning they only test for certain analytes once per week or every 3 days. So, maybe that is the delay...
Hiv infection is caused by a retrovirus....This retrovirus binds to CD4 cells (for the most part). You may detect the virus by several different methods. An elisa test (enzyme linked immunosorbent assay). You may also detect it by doing a test referred to as a western blot (a gel protein electrophoresis). Thirdly by pcr (polymerase chain reaction) which ...Read more
OTC Immediately: There are now over the counter (otc) HIV tests available that can be done at home. A blood test takes one to two days depending on the laboratory.
How long after possible HIV exposure can I get a definitive test result from a home oraquick HIV test?
NEVER definitive: There are several percent false negatives on home oraquick. Alex, you can't go on worrying like this -- it'll slow you down emotionally and interfere with your work and just being happy. Get with your primary care physician and pay for a nucleic acid test now. It's better to know, no matter what the result. Be brave, cherish the memory of love, and move on with your life.
Given that HIV 1 RNA PCR test result undetectable 25 days after possible exposure, when and which HIV test to take next?
That's good: It means we cannot find HIV in your blood
No HIV: If you are negative at two years past exposure you do not have HIV.100% accurate.
Is this rational?: If there's some particular reason to think she bears you malice (and it's not impossible), ask the lab to send you a copy of the paperwork. It's your legal right. If you have the obsessive idea that you have HIV despite a report of normal, and you recognize this as a trick your mind is playing, then your physician can recommend ways to manage this -- happens to many of us. Glad you're asking.
What percent, is a negative Hiv test result. At 6 weeks? Do I most likely not have it then. And what are the odds of contracting it one time exposure
Yes: What's important in the interim between initial negative HIV test and repeat test is "protected" "safe" sex, not just "sex" which exposes you repeatedly to opportunity for infection. Don't forget that HIV is not the only std that can be transmitted so be sure to get tested for "everything".See 1 more doctor answer
Is oraquick home HIV test accurate? My boyfriend and I both got negative test result and I want be sure it is accurate. Thankyou
More or less: If done correctly a negative result is reassuring. However, it depends on when you may have been exposed to HIV as it may take occasionally take 6-12 months for antibodies to form. You may repeat the test in 6 months and if it is negative and both of you have been in a mutually monogamous relation, that would be good. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.

My wife is pregnant at ninth month, her HIV test result is 0.27 s/co "non-reactive", what is the meaning of this result?
My HIV test result is 0.9-1.0=1.0 and healthtap doctors answered that, this is HIV negetive. Can I continue my sexual life with my family? Thanks.
Never give up loving: I'm glad you got good news. If you're reassured you are HIV negative and it's been enough time after the dangerous event for you to be confident, then go back to unprotected intercourse if that is your wish. Until then, use a condom. Many couples prefer this anyway. You MUST not forego intercourse in a marriage, though it can be protected, or other aspects of the relationship will tend to fail.
Hiv rna test result undetected after unprotected blowjob at day17. Test range 40 to 10mil. Is it conclusive? Regular hiv test neg at 15 days. Hiv?
No risk: HIV is rarely transmitted by oral sex. If you were the receiver of the BJ, you can be sure you weren't infected: there are few if any proved cases of oral to genital HIV transmission. Most experts would have recommended against an RNA test in this situation, but the negative result is additional strong evidence you weren't infected. The "regular" test is only slightly reassuring, 4-6 wk minimum.
Would cured/treated primary complex at 5 years old affect hiv test result at 25 years old, 9 months after exposure? Primary complex was just one-off
No: Primary complex if tuberculosis (TB). Having TB currently or in the past should not alter the results of modern HIV tests. If a person is not monogamous with an HIV-negative partner, meaning she has other possible but low-risk exposures, she can get see her primary care doctor and ask about routine screening. It might be annual testing.
Twelve Common STDs: No. That is extremely unlikely. It is much better when asking questions of physicians to be more specific and exact about your concerns about your health. Questions with generalities do not give you specific answers.See 1 more doctor answer
Aftr 70 days I got HIV test & result is HIV negative. But still one ulcer on tongue appears. Is this symptom acute HIV?
There are several ways to detect the HIV virus. The first is by antibodies. This includes eia (enzyme immuno assay). The rapid HIV tests are these types.
