I have had bronchitis for 5 days. I have also had fever everyday running 100 to 101. Is this normal to run fever this long?

Depends: Do not know how the diagnosis of bronchitis was made, so cannot clearly assess. If you have had persistent fever you may need further assessment depending upon your associated symptoms. If this continues another day would see a doctor and be evaluated further. Hope you feel better soon. ...Read more

See a doctor!: Coughing up blood (hemoptysis) is always a worrisome sign, and should be checked asap by a physician or health care provider. While at his age, and non-smoking status, cancer is less likely, many other conditions including bronchitis, pneumonia, tuberculosis and other diseases may cause blood in sputum. Online advice is not a substitute for a good history, physical examination, xrays and labs. ...Read more

I get chronic migraines. Awoke today w migraine and pain shooting down spine. No neck stiffness. +fever, bronchitis last monday. Should i worry?

Doubt it: It you are thinking of meningitis you don't have current symptoms and are ok. 85% of all migraines have associated neck pain. The virus that you had seems to be gone and unrelated to this migraine. They can be pretty bad! i know! you don't mention any treatment for migraines. Try 3 excedrines as soon as you know it's coming. Talk to doc about a plan. ...Read more

ER appropriate : She may have a complication of a strep throat like spread of infection into the surrounding tissues or even into blood, or the diagnosis may be something else (there are many causes of sore throat and rapid tests are imperfect). So going to the ER is the appropriate thing to do. Good luck. Your question was truncated. Answered as best as I could. Thank you. ...Read more

My is coughing with yellow sputum for 10dys. Last 2dys no sputum, she's coughing less but sweating. No fever all time. Is it pneumonia, bronchitis or?

Pneumonia: Several considerations are possible given symptoms of fever, cough and yellow sputum production, but pneumonia (PNA) should be strongly considered in a 65YO person with these persistent symptoms. If you are a smoker your risk for PNA and acute on chronic bronchitis increases. If you have a lot of sinus congestion then sinusitis may also be considered as a cause of your symptoms. ...Read more

How long should you wait to start riding your mtb after bronchitis? And is it healthy to continue riding when starting with a cold or flu?

How long should you wait to start riding your mtb after bronchitis? And is it healthy to continue riding when starting with a cold or flu?

Exercise and a cold: Hi, this is a very common question. When you are coming down with a cold or a flu your body needs all,the resources it has to fight this. So to continue to exercise will only make it worse for your body to do this. So give it a rest and recover quicker. Same as for training again after a bronchitis. Start slow and let your body pick up the losses it occurred during the infection ...Read more

My aunt passed away last month from sudden cardiac arrest. She had gotten a flu shot 1 week prior followed by bronchitis. Could they have contributed?

My aunt passed away last month from sudden cardiac arrest. She had gotten a flu shot 1 week prior followed by bronchitis. Could they have contributed?

Probably coincidence: Most likely, the cardiac arrest was not in any way related to the flu shot. Cardiac arrest happens randomly - there's no way to predict when or where with precision (which is why it is feared by all). While we can treat underlying medical conditions, sometimes the heart probs are undetected, & sometimes treatment is inadequate. In any case, I am sorry for your loss, but don't blame the flu shot. ...Read more

What to do for a child with bronchitis, off and on fever, and coughing?

See doctor: Bronchitis is almost always a viral infection, although children can have pertussis (whooping cough). Fever may occur with this. If, however, the fever is quite high, the character of the sputum is changing or looks like pus, the child is having problems breathing, or is otherwise worsening, then a visit to your doctor would be a good idea. ...Read more
